How much traffic does your team's website get?

After looking through the stats for my team's website (team228.org), I was surprised at the number of hits our website has been getting lately. Ever since about August 2005, the number of hits our website gets has been expeditionally surging. This past month, we have been averaging 4000 hits per day. The monthly stats for January 2006 show that we have received 6.586 gigabytes of bandwidth transfer, with 120,020 total hits. :D

Is this high for a team website? Is this average for a team's website? I'm just curious, as these numbers seemed high to me.

How much traffic does your team's website get?

(I searched and found this thread, but it's three years old.)

Well, I dunno if this is your situation, but I've found the large majority of hits for our site is either me checking how the changes I make are going online, or our team trying to get to our forum. So we get a bunch of traffic, but it's not really outside traffic.

As an aside, I really like your site. It's nicely done, and I can tell you guys have a lot of info on there. My only complaint. FRAMES! Man oh man do I just hate frames... But not enough to make me not like your site!

BTW here's our site www.anonobots-1190.com

Maybe I'll get more traffic, and if ya want let me know what you think :)

As of Jan. 24th (when we got the domain i remember getting it on the 18th sorry, this is also our first year doing a website, but certainly not my first time), our site (Team 585) has gotten ~20,000 hits and ~.5 GB of transfer spent, mostly from me checking to see if things worked out and my team using the forum.

I've seen it too, the increasing of the hits on our site. On the day I posted the link on CD I got ~80 hits within a few hours just from CD. I was kinda shocked to see that many people would look at our site.

Also, just yesterday we were crawled by google. It took them 3 weeks. Fun.

Our website www.lightningrobotics.com is showing 22064 visits this month which is high all other months are showing less than 14000 visits. Daily visits for the past few days are showing a range of 150 to 550 visits per day. But alot of that traffic comes from our team forums.

Ya, we have started to get some crawl too. I noticed that were getting a lot of hits from the usfirst's team list's and also from the topsite.

Our team website and our team forum (Arab High School Robotics and Arab Robotics Forums) doesn't even get traffic from our team, let alone the outside world. We get maybe 10 unique hits on the website a day, which is a major improvement thanks to the advertising attempts on my part.

I don't know where all of you are getting your traffic. Do you mind sending me some? I mean, just look at the forum. It's desolate.

Hits != pageviews != visits.

A 'hit' is actually any item from your web page. A main page with a stylesheet, a banner, and two pictures generates 5 hits when it is loaded. This equates to one pageview, and if it is the first page a visitor is viewing on your site recently, it is a visit.

Thank you.

Perhaps I need to rephrase what I said. I get about 30 unique visitors on my forum a day. :)

I can't remember our exact best numbers for hits, but in terms of bandwidth at our peak (the end of the 2004 season that had our site linked to from the FIRST site's front page), as I recall we exceeded our 10GB per month limit, and almost exclusively from page views. To put that in perspective, being that our front page's HTML alone was actually less than 10KB (and we used barely any other media for layout), we got a lot of hits around that time. As webmaster, it wasn't pretty, and sometimes really slowed the site down in the evenings. As FIRST gets bigger and bigger, the next Website Award winners are going to devour bandwidth... I can only suggest you all get good hosting plans.

Our last website, which was much simpler but involved more page downloading (it wasn't terribly elegantly-coded to say the least) officially peaked at 7GB, but I suspect the actual undocumented number was just shy of 9GB when we stopped checking. Not too shabby I guess.

We usually get between 800 - 1100 a day (and thats hits, not unique hits :) )

The pages viewed the most seems to be pictures, videos and history. Last month we used a little over two GB of bandwidth.

Re: How much traffic does your team's website get?

www.wildstang.org received about 330,000 hits last month (2200 unique visitors) and about 2.4 million hits during 2005. For February we've already had 75,000 hits (1000 unique visitors) and about 14Gb of data transferred (most of the data was due to a video we released).

Obviously no match for CD ;)
