Dungeons & Dragons

Who here actually plays it?

BlackRoboDragon 31-01-2006 19:58

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

I do, though my friends have my character sheets, I could make one up and print it though, pathguy.com helps with making one if you don't have any sheets for it.

If your reffering to the old version on the classic game system Intellevision, I'll occasinally get it out and play till my hand hurts. One of the most awesome Intellevision games.

intellevision? huh? what's that?

ShaneP 31-01-2006 20:03

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

Intellivision was probably one of the earliest game systems of home entertainment. It came out about the same time as the first Atari system. Its amazing that something so old, can still work like a charm.

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

Oh, ok, I see. WE used to have an old atari, but it broke down, and we couldn't fix it, so we sold it to someone who wanted it, broken or not. But yeah, I was talking abot the paper version, I find it to be fun, especially since when i knocked my little brother over the head, my mom (the DM) said he lost 3 HP from the hit, it was funny, because he tried to hit me back, and misses, causing himslef more damage cause he fell on his face, we all laughed. But that's only what the serious DMs do, usually it's just casual with my friends, nothing like that happens. There's also the old vidoe games called D&D, they were fun too, a lot less work, haha.

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

yes, i actually play. i own the 3.5 PH and DM's Guide, and an expansion (perils of wind and waves or some such)

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

I don't know about rulebooks or anything, but then again, I don't worry about it, I'm a player, not a DM, they can worry about it, all I need is my character, and my dice bag, with the dice of course. Were you planning on playing at some competitions?

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

i play, but play is a relative word. my friends and i lost our DM, so now we just create crazy characters and argue over who is gonna learn DMing next.

i have a lvl2 sohei, lvl 3/4 rogue. and a lvl 18-ish shadow rogue.

the shadow is beast. incoporeal, so it can barely ever be touched, and it can frighten any creature within like 50 feet or something. if it kills any humanoid creature it brings it back as a shadow "hireling"-thing, and can control up to 74 of them. this thing is basically a one-character army.

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

I'm more of a tank person, but I make sure I can come out of it alive. I usually pick a ranger class, because they can do the whole two-handed fighting thing well, and I really like that, it's awsome.

Capt.ArD 01-02-2006 10:34

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

yeah, i always use two-handed fight where possible. dual rapiers are my faves for the shadow. my friend is a tank player as well. builds ridiculous amounts of hitpoints and mad strength, clumsy as an elephant and dumb as a rock.

Yes! 20 sided die! People trying to hide their terrible scores! Real people crying over imaginary characters!

See it all, every other saturday.

I've played D&D since it came out as a boxed set (and I still have that boxed set).

Yeah, I'm old too (old enough to remember playing sea-battle on my intelivision :yikes: ).

I've always wanted to learn how to play! My friend is trying to get a group started, so hopefuly that will work out! If anyone has any tips, feel free to let me know! ;)

BlackRoboDragon 02-02-2006 18:15

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

Some tips:
1. Choose your character wisely, you will want to use someone that you know you can work.
2. Be sure to watch your money when you get some, don't waste it on useless crap, I did when I first played, didn't have any for the more important stuff I found a few minutes later.
3. Be sure to have a decent amount of constitution, and strength or dexterity, which ever is needed for your weapon.
4. For the love of god, make good decisions, don't screw over your teammates just because you want to look cool, don't rush into anything, and choose and use your skills wisely, you will need them, I should know...

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

I used to play my Freshman year, but eventually I got too caught up with other stuff that I stopped playing. The only thing I remember from playing is that I went into a tavern, somebody attacked me from behind, then I died. =p

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

Sorry for you man, I actually made it to level 3 the first time I played. But then I started playing with friends instead of family and made higher levels. I even made a quick level 20 ranger, from the site I mentioned earlier, It's actually quite handy, because I didn't even know about some of the stuff I could do with my character until I made one on there, and it even does the dice for you and adds it up.

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

I've played a lot of Dungeons & Dragons based games (Icewind dale, Heart of Winter, Icewind dale 2, Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2...) but I've never played much actual D&D.
I can't imagine casting Meteor Swarm... rolling 24 die every time...

BlackRoboDragon 08-02-2006 19:50

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

Wow, that would get a little annoying, rolling a die that many times, unless you have a lot of them to roll at once. But it would still get annoying. Though that is a fun spell to use on Baldur's Gate. Both of those I have played and beaten several times, even getting the hidden character Drizt each time. He is awsome in the first one, because he was the only one to dual wield. That, however, is quite different from regular D&D. But I still like tanks, in both games, along with Champions of Norath.

D&D - 3.5, Modern, and Future
World of Darkness (Including Mage, Vampire, and Werewolf)

I've been involved in a weekly game at least for the last year or so. It entertains me. My group has had some really interesting games. We have a lawful evil wizard that shows up in nearly every game we play, which adds some fun twists. Next summer we're playing a game set in the same world as a game from last summer, except 20 years in the future (DnD 3.5 still though). It'll be interesting to run into our old charaters, especially since the end of last game the DM had us level them up to 20. My favorite systems are DnD 3.5 and Vampire.

PS - And Munchkin :)

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

I used to play D&D when I was in the Air Force back in 1975-76. Loved it
I than played it on my Apple IIc. NE1 remember them :)
One night we were playing and we were down about 10 levels. There was a storm and the lights started flickering. We hi-tailed it out of the maze and the power went out not more than 10 seconds after we got out and saved the game. The Apple IIc could operate down to 90 vac.

Does neverwinter Nights count?

Does Neverwinter Nights count?

Because that's a computer game made by Dungeons and Dragons, Wizards of the Coast, Atari, and I think maybe Bioware...

Zyik 11-02-2006 14:01

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

I play most of the computerized versions and I DM for a pen and paper group. It's a lot of fun, especially when people look at me funny for wearing a D20 around my neck. They either don't like D&D, don't like a geeky girl who obviously doesn't know her place, or a combination of both.

Re: Dungeons & Dragons

We play it on a mat, though I do play the TOEE game on my computer. And I play the games that take from it, such as Ultima Online, WoW, and a couple other MMOs.

I still play First and Second, haven't gotten arount to third. Heard its not as good as 1st or 2nd.
