As for team 5, I'm lucky enough to have a good friend from that team, Matt Attallah. Matt is a great guy, and I've had the pleasure of having him over to my place before, another member of team five is Eric (ravenwriter), another cool guy. It's a real shame to hear that ANY first team is being put out by anthing, even moreso an athletic program. I'd be happy to do anything and everything in my power to ensure that the robocards stay around. Great team, with some great members.

As someone mentioned above, robotics isn't know widley enough yet, and that's a major problem all teams will always have to face, coming out of the shadows and making ourselves known is a good thing for every team to strive for. It's obvious...FIRST members will take over the world someday.

As for team 5, I hope that all goes well with your'e efforts to prove to your'e school board that the robocards are very worthy of staying where you are, good luck!

Well, we have a small room, and our principal (former team member btw) isn't to good w/ us right now. It took us a year (and then some) to just get the guy to let us use a trophy case, now we have to get one. FIRST is great for meeting people (*wink* *wink*). The only problem now is that our team will be bigger (for the start, anyways), and our room didn't do to good holding 20+ kids alone.

Maybe I'll start doing some school stuff, and try to convince people to give us the old room back.

The robotics team is our school's sports team pretty much. However, our old room is being converted to a video studio and our new room is much smaller and hasn't a window. They did buy us a bunch of cool tools and stuff to go with the move so I'm not complaining.

...and this got resurrected how?

It's all good for now. We have room to store our robots/tools and enough place to build a playing field...

It's better than some teams! :)

Look, this thread isn't about your personal gripes against atheltic sports. Face it, there are more athletic team members in your schools than FIRST members, if that is untrue, you have an interseting school. It is obvious, that those of you who even post about how inferior you believe atheltics are, have never participated in them. You obviously have no idea that it actually takes a bit more effort to do something that you have less of a chance succeeding in along side maintaining high academic grades. Yes, there is a significantly lower probability of entering professional sports as a profession, but, like most sports (including FIRST) , some more than others, do help build people's character and confidence. i also find it somewhat ironic that you complain about how everyone stereotypes FIRST students as goofy, strangely dressed nerds with no lives, when you're ready to label an athlete or athletic supporter as a macho, egotistical dullard who wants to push FIRST and other academic organiztions off the board.

Sorry about that, i was getting irritated.
Anyways, like many of you have said (those of you who actually had some sort of positive feedback), getting the community involved in FIRST is one of the quickest ways to gain recognition.

I found this in someone's profile (the "Last Post" section).

KWachowski27> I'm pretty sure if it was easy enough, we could. But we don't have many who actually wanna put the umph into helping out the team (this is just in my views).
