Db9 port

if the db9 serial port is fried, shouldn't the whole camera stop working?
i am asking this when i tried to calibrate the camera using labview, the serial port did not even come up on the aplication. however i was able to uploadd kevin's camera code to the rc. even though the camera did not move.

also i accenditly attached the ttl adapter to the rc wrong(backwards) and one fo the pins was touching one of the relay pins, the adapter got realy hot.
i quicly turnedoff the rc and removed it. could that have fried the ttl adapter and that is why when i upload kevin's code to the rc the camera does not move or sends data to the terminal window?

Re: Db9 port

You should first try to get the camera to respond using LabView (or last year's Java GUI, or a direct serial connection like Hyperterminal). Once you can do that, then you can go on to get it communicating with the Robot Controller.

If your TTL-to-RS232 converter was misconnected in such a way to make it hot, I'd guess it's toast. You can play with the terminal assignment definitions in Kevin's camera code and tell the software to use the program port for its camera communication, but that'll prevent you from simultaneously using the program port for the Bells&Whistles menu communication.
