In the past couple of years, we have easily swamped the FRC with interrupts, while trying to do quadrature with chassis shaft encoders - to give us tread speed - and an estimate of field position. Yes, there are ways around this. But, being able to off-load the encoders to a separate microprocessor and communicate via a serial message to the FRC would be useful and is a good programming challenge for our students.
