Touching the robot

Can we touch the robot between matches?

Thanks!

You can, and will be touching the robot, caressing the robot, beating on the robot, praying to God about the robot, answering gadzillion questions about the robot, and in all likelihood largely re-engineering / modifying the robot between matches. Just wear your safety glasses. =P

Re: Touching the robot

to put this into perspective, at a competition your team will spend a TOTAL of about 20 minutes (average) with the robot on the field, playing matches

and over the 3 days your robot will spend about 1400 minutes in the pits.

Ive always said, all the real action and excitment at FIRST events happens in the pits. Keeping your bot at the top of its form, and making on-the-fly changes and modifications is where engineering genius meets the physical world!

Ideally the pits are were you just have to shine the robot up and make it look pretty...

But that never really happens

we normally fix the robot or totally check over our entire robot through and through just to be sure everything is still all together

You can repair anything you need to inbetween matches. Dont forget to bring as many useful tools as possible + goggles!
