Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
Wow... That is still VERY nice :)
Good job!!!!!!!!!! P.S. I love the zip-tie hinges!!! |
Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
I like the Chevy symbol on the battery box. Very nice!

Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
Wow, I'm not really very good with electrics, but this looks good. Looks nice and orderly, along with well planned.

Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
better than ours, that's for sure!

Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
Very impressive. How much does it weigh?
|
Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
I really like this. I think some things aren't very accessible but overall, it is a very clean and compact and nice design. Nice job.

Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
I like it.. but that bend on the positive battery cable is scaring me a bit.. what's wrong with trimming it down? That can't be good for the wire.

Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
Yeah, my board looked really nice too... until I started with the PWMs...

Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
I always enjoy seeing what you guys come up with for your robots, and especialy to look on in awe of your electrical wiring, once again i am not disapointed!

Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
i like the board but itl looke kinda heavy
|
Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
looks good, but is it safe? All that aluminum around electronics....i would be worried about arching
|
Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
You are right, we will look at that red power cable....it could be shorter.
The weight is around 13 lbs. We know that sounds heavy but we have incorporated the battery holding system within the electrical box. Which means we didn't have to build it anywhere else. The back rail of the box also serves as the rearmost cross-member of the drive train frame. The electrical box actually sits low between the frame rails to help with CG. With the battery, switch and breaker so close to one another no other #6 wire is required. We just have to run the sensor cables and power wires throughout the robot which should not be very much more. All of the power wires are pretty short runs. It is a tight squeeze in some places but doable. We will try to keep everything neat and labeled. All of the speed controls are mounted on polycarb. We will wrap any wire bundles that could rub against the aluminum with wire loom or something like that. It is a good point and always should be considered when building boxes such as this. You should try to keep the wires from rubbing against any sharp edges. |

Wow, it looks like it came out of a tank. Nice job, like the wire runs and that all the controllers are marked.

Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
Once again you have created a very cool electrical box. Nice job, Jimmy.

Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
It looks very nice. It looks like it is very neat and you can tell where everything is. Once again nice jobs guys.

Re: pic: Team 27 Electrical Box
Hey Jimmy! Elec box looks great! I like how you kept everything close to the battery. Smart package engineering! Like your Tig welding and fab skills. You do the team proud!
