I'll definitely be using 3D Studio Max after FIRST is over... it's great software, and we've got some licenses for us to use :P

Since the licenses are good for a whole year, I'd use the Portable License Utility. I used it before when I got my new laptop, it's real easy.

The only thing you need to find out is the special identificaiton code, which is located on the bottom of the PLU window.

It should be in your Programs on the start menu: Autodesk/Autodesk 3ds max 8/Portable License Utility.

have any of you actually bought the software for 3500$? or are you simply not using it between seasons?

the only stand-alone license is at my school, and I graduate in a few month, but I am simply addicted to this program, =(
you think autodesk will renew the license if I tell the I participated in FIRST? :(

I'm not sure what you're planning on doing next year. But for the people going to college, I know that my school (Carnegie Mellon) has 3DSMax installed on the computers. I'm actually taking a class to learn to use it better.
