Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
What motor is that running the shooter?
|
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
I watched the video and i am totally impressed, great job guys!
|
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Thats really awesome. Its really great to see some other non-pitching machine shooters.
|
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Nice shooter M.A.R.S. Can't wait to see you guys in person next saturday.
|
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
That video was extremely cool!
The design is excellent! Thanks for the preview. :) |
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Very nice.
|
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Wow
That's really impressive. I wasn't expecting to see anyone using a catapault assembly for their launching mechanism. |
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Thanks all for your kind words!

you've got my props! very impressive
|
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Very very impressive! I didnt think anyone would be able to find a quick way to do it.
|
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Is there a mechanical way you got the arm to move slow grabbing the ball and fast throwing it? Or is it done with a sensor and programming? I don't think I have to tell you how awesome your robot is. everyone else did a good job of it.

Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
I believe the change in speed is due to the surgical tubing stretching and contracting

Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
You must be using a one-way roller clutch so that the rubber band can over run the van door motor. Very clever.
I had my doubts about the feasability of making a rapid fire catapult. But, you ave done a great job, one that I think has a chance to compete with the pitching machine solutions. Well done. Joe J. |
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
how far back were you shooting from in the video
shaun |
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Wow, that is a really cool shooting mechanism! How did you come up with that idea? Did you base it off of a batting cage launcher?
|
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Great job guys.
The only comment I have though. I don't know much about measuring with a radar gun, are you suppose to measure the ball on coming into the radar gun or away from the radar gun? It looked to me in the video you are measuring your Poofy Balls as it was leaving the range of your radar gun. Which way should it be or more accurate to make sure the reading you are getting from the gun is indeed what it says it is? |
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Great job guys! Very impressive! :yikes:
|
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Wow. That's very impressive. I have one question though.
How does it load? Does the belt you have load into something, or is it incomplete? |
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
very cool shooting mechanism (do I smell innovation award)
|
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
REALLY COOL
Can you change the distance it can fire are you going to use the camera to aim. This is a great rapid fire machine. |
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
i'm jealous!
NOT of the shooter (which looks really good!), but of the fact that you're wearing shorts! |
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Very nicely done, I didn't think that catapults could come out with a rapid-fire. I can't wait to see it when you guys tweak it and work out the accuracy bugs. Just be careful with the surgical tubing since over time it doesn't pull as hard, which will change how fast your motor pulls those balls up over time. Great job guys.
|
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
This is by far the coolest shooter I've seen mechanically. Can you fire from multiple distances?
|
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Awesome shooter! I really love the design and idea. The best use of a catapult ever!
|
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
It appears you have exceeded your bandwidth limit on your website? This I cant watch :(
If you would like it hosted at another location I can host the file for you, or there is also mediaputfile I believe it is? -Mike Aalderink |
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
It took me a while but I was able to figure it out without seeing the video
but i would really like to see it in action looks awesome |
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
Im with Eric Scheuing on this, How will it get balls during comp? Throwing into that hole seems hard.
I love the throw on this thing. Reminds me of Mythbusters when they built the card throwing thing. Very cool. |
Re: pic: Team 1523 Shooter + Video
-the loader shown is a prototype. Balls will be collected from the ground via the belt mechanism and/or thrown into a basket (not shown) which feeds the loading tube.
-roller bearings with integral clutching are used for the arm -not sure which video was posted but most of them were shot at about 20' range. -trajectory angle is not adjustable in-match. It could be, but we're not trying to. Properly tuned it can score from a wide range of distances from target without adjustment -in order to aim, the driver and/or camera need to aim the entire bot. -the radar gun was behind the launcher. They work in either direction. Can't speak to the accuracy of this gun at this speed range though. |

Regardless, I believe the problem is finally fixed. We also had a brief period of downtime while the DNS updated from the old account to the new one (again, don't ask why this happened in the first place). A friend has mirrored the video (http://funtimenetwork.com/shooting.wmv) with an unlimited bandwidth account. I apologize to anyone who wanted to watch our video during our technical difficulties! |

Anyway, if you are interested that would be great. Instead of filling up this thread perhaps you could email me (timarnold[AT]adelphia.net). I am also curious by what you mean by "interesting setup" :yikes: . EDIT: Actually... I could give you a better quality version too if you wish. Perhaps we can work something out :) . |
