Re: pic: Team 20 2006 Robot
Wow!
Sorry, but, where is the camera? and how much it weighs? So scary! |
Re: pic: Team 20 2006 Robot
That looks really awesome!
How do you load the balls? |
Re: pic: Team 20 2006 Robot
Very nice Mr. JN! Are there any video's that we can see of it picking up the balls and loading into the shooter?

Re: pic: Team 20 2006 Robot
Very nice compact design. I like the speed holes too. :D

Re: pic: Team 20 2006 Robot
Very pretty - I love the machined lexan on the sides.

Re: pic: Team 20 2006 Robot
Great job John! Looks like another great robot to battle at UTC.
My questions/observations: - Any human load ability? - # of balls stored? - What is the pneumatic for on the back of the robot? - How many freshman did it take to drill all those holes? (No offense to freshmen) :) BEN |
Re: pic: Team 20 2006 Robot
This picture was taken just before the camera was mounted. It is on the FIRST servo gimbals, on the turret, forward of and under the launching wheels. In the picture, it is at about weight. We have yet to install bumpers. Good catch, Ben: we have no way for humans to load balls, but the roller is extremely effective at gathering them off the floor. The lexan s-fram will store about 12 balls when loaded statically. The wire transit frame (between s-frame and launcher) holds three. The pneumatic arm in the back lifts the ball at the end of the transit frame into the launcher, where it goes on its merry way. We went with larger wheels this year to give the machine better odds on the ramp.
With all due respect to Freshmen, the side plates were actually done on a CNC stamping machine, so the holes came "pre-drilled." Last year, we punched out a truss structure, and it was a little too light, so we decided to use a little more metal and lighten with holes. |

That looks amazing, I can't wait to see it at UTC up close and in person. Another amazing bot from the folks at team 20.

Whoa! its got an awesome 1950's retro Erector Set / Buck Rogers quality that I really like!
Very nice! |
Re: pic: Team 20 2006 Robot
That's a good roller mechanism.

Re: pic: Team 20 2006 Robot
Nice curves

Re: pic: Team 20 2006 Robot
One moment while I take the shock of competition...
... ... ... OK. That's a nice looking machine. Really really nice. Wow. I mean, that's something that we never thought about. Gosh. hmmm... :ahh: -Joe PS: hmmm... something tells me that we need to put up our teasers some time soon. yeah, I'll see what I can manage and IF I can after ship date.... yeah... hmmm.... *whistles* (that's an if) |
Re: pic: Team 20 2006 Robot
That is one amazing robot!!! It really is

Re: pic: Team 20 2006 Robot
Looks cool.
Just one question: Do you plan on turning? :) We have some traction wheels that look exactly like that, and they don't slide at all on carpet. |
