Well I can't really say anything on this board since I'm a Rangers/Sabres fan, but anyway I think that the key to this series boils down to who has the better defense

p.s. I miss the Sharks

Matt Attallah 23-05-2002 15:09

Hey, if it beats you, I'll take it.... :):D

DanLevin247 23-05-2002 15:11

Aww yeah......Say goodbye to the Avs. This one's in the bag

D.J. Fluck 23-05-2002 22:59

Bah, dont count them out yet, its only been 3 games.....Detroit was huffin and puffin in the high altitudes....they can't take much more up there

Anyone catch the Rick Reilly column in the new sports illustrated....its great

heres some highlights:

"If detroit doesn't win, do you realize how many detroit fans will try to kill themselves by jumping out the windows of basement apartments?"

"Detroit has a great owner. He might have a team full of guys who couldn't find downtown detroit with a GPS....."

"I hated their little lawn gnome of a coach Scotty Bowman. I hatd their Moscow-Red uniforms (wheres Joe mccarthy when you need him(D.J.'s addition)). And I hate their spoiled brat owner who simply writes a check and steal whichever stars he fancies from whatever organizations molded him.....What happened Detroit? You couldn't come to terms with Gretzky?!"

Thats his job and thats what he is paid to do....and he is pretty darn good at it too

He makes some very valid points

Great Idea

Hey D.J.,

Maybe Detroit should sit Yzerman out for the whole season so he will be fresh for the playoffs(huh, Forsberg, huh). The Aves are a good team and I am not counting them out, but they have been relying on Roy too long and I think that well is drying up.

D.J. Fluck 24-05-2002 10:44

yes maybe...but detroit needs to bench Steve, Sergi, Brendon, and Luc who have done absolutely nothing this series....Federov is on a 9 (?) game scoring slump and Luc Robitaille's only goal wasn't even his (DARN YOU GREG DE VRIES!)..so far this has been a disapointing series on both sides becuase both teams have played tons better....if Colorado didnt go to 7 with the Sharks and they were more rested it would be 3-0 Avs....Detroit is playing bad, but Colorado is playing as bad and sometimes worse....i have a feeling this is going to 7 and rhe rest of the games will be in overtime due to the lack of scoring, or too much scoring.

Anyone counting out the Leaves yet?
Down 3-1....i think its going to 6 before Carolina taks it

Paul Copioli 24-05-2002 10:52

42 to 21

Yep. That was the shots on goal total for game 3.

Roy actually had decent game. The Wings dominated most of the 2nd period and all of the 3rd. The Wings had 13 shots on goal in the O.T. to Colorado's 4.

These are the best 2 teams in hockey and the defenses (for the most part) are making the offenses look worse than they are.

Oh, and about Yzerman, he is playing hurt. If Forsberg was hurt like Yzerman is, he would sit out the whole season .. Oh wait ...

D.J. Fluck 24-05-2002 15:55

hahahaha

No.

Anyway there is such a thing as comming back too early...careers have been ruined due to people comming back too soon before they were healed and then they re-injure the injury and it gets worse....Peter was playing it out and making sure that both of his feet were ok...anyway he wanted to get back on the ice the day after he had his appendix removed....which is crazy if you ask me

SDH at WMU 24-05-2002 22:23

YEAR Team (CONN SMYTHE)
2001 Colorado Avalanche (Patrick Roy )
1998 Detroit Red Wings (Steve Yzerman)
1997 Detroit Red Wings (Mike Vernon)
1996 Colorado Avalanche (Joe Sakic)

Take a quick gander at the revelent winnings of the cup recently. You accuse detroit of relying on our vets, which I dont think is wrong but look at the Avs there doing the same. relying on theirs so dont be the pot that calls the kettle black. I think that these are two kick (insert generic term for glutious maximus here) teams and some great hockey eh? but there will be a winner of the series and taking each team for its merrit
I think the Wings will emerge triumphant!!!

* SDHatWMU chants, "Lets go Red Wings!!!" , and tosses an octupus on the ice.
:D

D.J. Fluck 26-05-2002 02:29
