Re: So, what did you name your baby?
Last year our robot was names Meshach, after Meshach Browning who helped with the foundation of our team's (1629) county.
The new idea was to call it Meshach 2.0 -- Now the name is Me-Shaq. I have no idea how this came about :p |
Re: So, what did you name your baby?

Re: So, what did you name your baby?
Swiss Miss........because of the 'swiss cheese styling'.
As was said in the shop last Monday night....."How did we get 17 lbs overweight?" But we got to the end, and it works, or at least it did last night at 8:30. Its in the crate now and on its way to drayage. The team did a great job shedding the 17 lbs of weight without sacrificing performance. The final weight came in at 119.7 lbs. :) |
Re: So, what did you name your baby?
Our team decided to name our bot LEW...
as to what it means...i guess it depends on who asks. If it's someone on the team or something, it's short for Lewinski. If the school board asks, it stands for Leominster Education Workshop. :-P |
Re: So, what did you name your baby?
Double Vision, because we have dual shooters and dual ball collectors :)

Re: So, what did you name your baby?
The name of N.E.W. Apple Corps' robot has been Tobor as far back as I can remember. Not sure if it's always been named as such, but it's been named that for a while. This year was supposed to be Tobor IX, but since this is the 10th year our team has been in FIRST, we decided to skip a number and go straight to Tobor X.

Re: So, what did you name your baby?
We had a few nominees for names
Scorpio - Because our launcher looks like a scorpion tail Glass Prison - I put it out there as a joke cause it's the name of an awesome Dream Theater song. People liked the name anyway. The Refridgonator - The gathering system is tall and the front is flat like a refridgerator We voted and came out with Scorpio. |
Re: So, what did you name your baby?
We named our robot "Oh Geeze". (Said like oh jeez) Because of the fact that that was mostly what we said during the past 6 weeks.

Re: So, what did you name your baby?
The mouse mobile!
'cause it looks oddly mouse-like |
Re: So, what did you name your baby?
I'm not sure what everyone else on the team is calling it, but I'm going with "Triple Threat." This is some sort of in-team joke going back to our initial strategy discussions where Greg presented his idea of what our robot should do, and said it should have the Triple Threat, that is we should be able to 1) score in the low goals, 2) score in the 3 point goal, and 3) do the fake out - go for the 1 point goal, then go for the three point goal. In reality, the Bobcat 2006 (another perfectly acceptable name) is more of a quadruple-threat.

Re: So, what did you name your baby?
We had a "Name the Robot" contest and the winning name was "TheraBot" since our high school is called Therrell, but we shortened it to T-Bot. I wanted to name it Christine after the car in that Stephen King movie since it used to always take off when it was turned on.

This year's robot was officially named Top Gun about a day after kickoff. Just this weekend some of the students have been calling it Maverick, so both names are going to appear on decals on the 'bot. We are using a modified version of the Navy's Top Gun school logo on our shirts, hats, buttons, banners, and literature. Look for aviator sunglasses on our drive team. We were going to order aviator safety glasses but economic good sense stepped in at the last minute. |
Re: So, what did you name your baby?
Tommy the Pinball Wizard.
