how are you going to refill that hopper during the match, or are you banking on the 10 balls from autonomous?

You should read the forums first. 40 seconds does not really give you a lot of time to do much.(read about the pre ship scrimmages) We will play defense after auto mode and prevent the other robots from doing much. In our opinion AUTOMODE plays a big role. And after auto mode there wont be to much going on.

Remember two years back on how important the bar was? Well this year we think the ramp and auto mode will be the same way =)

EDIT: FYI This video is over 1-1.5weeks old. Now we hit 10-10 first spot. 10/9-10 second spot and 9/8-10 from third spot

Good luck this season. I have a feeling this year because a bunch of teams will be shooting from the hip, you will see robots coming across the feild to take out shooters in auto.

shaun

That's why we dont move and we get rid of them quick =)... Try pushing us from the side

We can also run across the field to hit other robots in auto mode.

it all depends on what the team wants us to do.

So they just drive in front of you...

Wow, In auto mode they will drive in front of us? OOOK!! Sure.. When we are under control we have a lot of power, more then most, so that wont even matter.

more often than not, its not power, but traction that wins a pushing match. and empirical data has suggested that pneumatic tires have a CoF of approx. 0.8-0.9 on carpet, while treads such as roughtop and wedgetop have a CoF of approx. 1.2-1.3 on carpet. with the profusion of off-the-the-shelf traction wheels, i think that you might see a little more fight than you think.

Let me tell you something. I have been doing tracks for the last 12 years we know something about tracks. We made sure that what we are using will beat tracks. The only thing I can tell you is we know power well. That has been one of the best thing about our past robots. so come out and watch what we do this year.

power is our friend

If you have been doing tracks for 12 years, and building FIRST robots since 1995 as your signature states, then how can you not be using tracks this year? :ahh:

so these pictures will show you that yes we do track and do them well. We have these robot to test our new robot. Yes our new robot will push theses robots around. something that has not happen to us at any competitions.

So do you think we will put a robot out that can not push other robots around. By just our past robots we have shown that we do push robots around.

You will see this year that the wheels we are using and the way we use them will be able to push other robots around.

We did a lot of testing before we made this big jump into wheels. I have and proved that tracks where the way to go. up until this year :)

just be ready for us because what we do well is push others

Because after 12 years of repeatedly saying "nothing can beat tracks" they now found something that "can beat tracks".

Now they've found something new they claim can't be beaten.
(Maybe in 12 more years, they'll figure out something new.)

This whole thing is hysterical to me, because of all those instances that members of 61 have spouted platitudes about how their tracks are "unbeatable", and there was no way that any wheels would be able to out-push a tracked robot. It seems like they've changed their tune a little bit.

Everyone take note:
Nothing is "unbeatable" and those who say something is, are just being foolish. Learn to understand the physics and engineering principles behind the phenomena we see on the field, and you'll understand how to iterate and improve.

touche on this. And yes if you have gone agaisnt us in the past you would of know us for the power.

So yes we have found something new and yes we have to say tracks can be pushed but for this year game I think we picked what will work

I think you just proved John's point.
