how are you going to refill that hopper during the match, or are you banking on the 10 balls from autonomous?

You should read the forums first. 40 seconds does not really give you a lot of time to do much.(read about the pre ship scrimmages) We will play defense after auto mode and prevent the other robots from doing much. In our opinion AUTOMODE plays a big role. And after auto mode there wont be to much going on.

Remember two years back on how important the bar was? Well this year we think the ramp and auto mode will be the same way =)

EDIT: FYI This video is over 1-1.5weeks old. Now we hit 10-10 first spot. 10/9-10 second spot and 9/8-10 from third spot

Good luck this season. I have a feeling this year because a bunch of teams will be shooting from the hip, you will see robots coming across the feild to take out shooters in auto.

That's why we dont move and we get rid of them quick =)... Try pushing us from the side

We can also run across the field to hit other robots in auto mode.

it all depends on what the team wants us to do.

Wow, In auto mode they will drive in front of us? OOOK!! Sure.. When we are under control we have a lot of power, more then most, so that wont even matter.

more often than not, its not power, but traction that wins a pushing match. and empirical data has suggested that pneumatic tires have a CoF of approx. 0.8-0.9 on carpet, while treads such as roughtop and wedgetop have a CoF of approx. 1.2-1.3 on carpet. with the profusion of off-the-the-shelf traction wheels, i think that you might see a little more fight than you think.

Let me tell you something. I have been doing tracks for the last 12 years we know something about tracks. We made sure that what we are using will beat tracks. The only thing I can tell you is we know power well. That has been one of the best thing about our past robots. so come out and watch what we do this year.

power is our friend

If you have been doing tracks for 12 years, and building FIRST robots since 1995 as your signature states, then how can you not be using tracks this year? :ahh:

so these pictures will show you that yes we do track and do them well. We have these robot to test our new robot. Yes our new robot will push theses robots around. something that has not happen to us at any competitions.

So do you think we will put a robot out that can not push other robots around. By just our past robots we have shown that we do push robots around.

You will see this year that the wheels we are using and the way we use them will be able to push other robots around.

We did a lot of testing before we made this big jump into wheels. I have and proved that tracks where the way to go. up until this year :)

just be ready for us because what we do well is push others

Because after 12 years of repeatedly saying "nothing can beat tracks" they now found something that "can beat tracks".

Now they've found something new they claim can't be beaten.
(Maybe in 12 more years, they'll figure out something new.)

This whole thing is hysterical to me, because of all those instances that members of 61 have spouted platitudes about how their tracks are "unbeatable", and there was no way that any wheels would be able to out-push a tracked robot. It seems like they've changed their tune a little bit.

Everyone take note:
Nothing is "unbeatable" and those who say something is, are just being foolish. Learn to understand the physics and engineering principles behind the phenomena we see on the field, and you'll understand how to iterate and improve.

touche on this. And yes if you have gone agaisnt us in the past you would of know us for the power.

So yes we have found something new and yes we have to say tracks can be pushed but for this year game I think we picked what will work

More likely for how much you brag about having said "power" and "traction" that is "unbeatable" by all others

Best of luck to all teams, no matter how you put force to the floor! (even if you somehow manage to get more power out of your CIMs than everyone else...)

Re: Team 61 early Practice Video

I think I'll chime in here. (Even though it may not be my place to chime in)

If you've found something better than tracks and you're so <b>sure/b> that you'll move "any" team who gets in your way- let's see it. I'm pretty interested to see this drivetrain and what you use to power it to get so much torque. Sonce torque is what you'll need to move your robot.. unless you used some type of spyder drive? I think if you've found something better than off the shelf traction wheels and far superior to tracks, you should tell everyone about it; unless you want to be selfish about it.

Not to brag- but we thought we had a lot of power last year, and our 2 speed drivetrain is more efficient and more powerful than the 4 speed we had last year.

In conclusion- Im asking for two pictures- your medium(this miracle material/product) of applying the power/energy to the ground, and the transmissions/motors which do this.

C'mon man.. A little boasting is alright, but deliberately flaming someone else, who really didn't put much against it.. yeah I think thats too far. Those of us who enjoy posting on these boards pride ourselves on dealing with each other using gracious professionalism, not immaturity. This team 61 garbage has gone too far. We understand your drive train is holy, but there is no reason to try and insult people publicly, especially people who had nothing bad to say. Especially me.

So now that you have totally ruined the reputation of Team 61, have a great season. We'll be sure to push the stuffing out of you. ;)

This reminds me of this match in 2004 at WPI ( http://www.zippyvideos.com/383453757...alification_2/ ). Where we stopped and lifted your robot (pulley arm / track base) with our robot (puematic arm / wheel base). It is a very nice track vs. wheel bot battle.

<the annoying guy at every fight in school who all they doo is say "It's on!!">

Yeah, so apparently "it's on"
61, I know you always gloat about how powerful your drive is and how much pushing power you have...but how many times have you gotten penalties or a DQ? I was a resetter at beantown in 2004, and i remember you guys getting warned and then finally penalized throughout the day for your "aggressive driving". I'm sure you guys feel better boasting about your drive then the lack of points you get for your team and your alliance when your penalized. But don't let me stop you, it's not my alliance on the line.

Re: Team 61 early Practice Video

Ok guys, this has gone to far. I've been in FIRST now for 6 years and I've always looked forward to seeing a 61 robot. Ever since I was a rookie at the Florida regoinal watching 61's very reliable drive trains and watch them succeed. I've always looked forward to seeing their product and discussing methods of accomplishing that years goals, however seeing this behavior frustrates me a. I'm not going to pin this attitude on team 61 but as representatives of team 61 you should check yourselves.

An initial comment was made and immediately you have responded with turse obviously not well thought out aggresive behavior. I think it was overlooked as an off the cuff fleeting comment that came off as rude, but its frustrating to see this kind of behavior continue.

Defending a decsision or being proud of an accomplishment is one thing but egotistical flaming is uncalled for. Call it confidence, call it ego, call it what you want, but the fact of the matter is you need to be humble or someone will humble you. FIRST has a gracious proffesional atmosphere of coopertittion that is unlike most competitions. It is very competitive, and there is a winner, deciding on which path to take to victory is your own choice, but remember regardless of the out come there are consequences for the path taken.

If you choose to intimedate the competition and use flaming tactics you will develop a poor reputation. After reading the course of this post I would almost think twice about coming to 61's pit this year and asking questions, I'm not sure I would be well received.

I'm really surprised that after said 12 years of competition you guys know a lot about power and drivetrains, but haven't learned or somehow forgot lessons learned in humility. I should hope this is not representative of your whole team, but I guess it doesn't matter because your team will win every match you play anyways.

I know this is not how 61 is. I know this is a poor representation of your team. You have always been confident and had a reason to be, confidence is important. But rude treatment of fellow FIRSTers is not only not "gracious proffesionalism" its just flat out not proffesional so please do not behave this way.

I still look forward to seeing you guys competing at UCF Regional this year. I am also excited to see your fancy drivetrain, but always remember Hubris was Odysseus' downfall and gracious proffesionalism should remain a forefront in your teams outward image.

Wow, all these time I have been thinking that this thread is discussing team 61's robot.

I am going to post what I think and know. I have seen team 61 around since my rookie year (2002). Every year they have impressed me with a great robot. There were times when we were team 61's alliance. I enjoyed every moment I was their alliance.

After reading this thread, I am scared to send my scout to team 61's pit. I am afraid of their response when the scout asks "What can your robot do?"

No offense team 61, but there are teams out there who will be able to push you around. There are 1000 teams out there. The way you guys are posting on this forum, you are making it sound like you guys are the best team out there and the games FIRST have been coming up with is all about power. If you were the best team and build the best robots out there, I am sure you guys would have had atleast one championship gold by now.

I am looking forward to seeing you guys at Florida regional. Good luck.

Look lets stop what is going on here. I have and the team has help more teams then I can remember. If you think you are scare to come to our pit then you really do not know us. I have been there when your team 108 needed help. You have great people in your pits and most of the time you are just one pit from ours. I can remember picking your team last year even when your team was very low on the seeding. We picked your team because of the great robots you have had in the past and know how to win.

So please do not think we are these mean people. I try a post ago to say uncle. So please I can not talk about the others on this team but come see me in the pits and I will show you anything you want and I will help in anyway you need.

Lets all give each other a huge and get over this.

Yes, you guys have helped 108 a lot and I sure do appreciate it, I was a student on the team for 4 years and now I am mentoring 1345. We look forward to work with you.

Good Luck Sir Tom.

REMEMBER:

What team gave your your drive system? What team got you guys going on the right foot? Yes that's right, we did. Your robot looks A LOT like ours has for the past 12 years. Sure you made a few changes, but it's still the basic idea, we brought to your team.

All we asked for was credit and application for helping you. Have you guys ever done that for us? NO. I'm not going to get on this topic, but the 15 bad feed backs you have been giving me, because you are in a "bad feedback war" with me is totally ridiculous. I would of never EVER singled you out if you did not start it. People on this forum need to learn that it does not always have to be 100% serious. Just because its Gracious Professionalism, you can still have fun and joke around.

I do apologise if any of the comments I made rubbed you the wrong way.

Don't be afraid to stop by out pit. I won't be there. Even if I was I'd be more then willing to help you. We like show off how awesome our machine is. After every match, we sit down, and shoot the sh*it till the next match. We think we have figured out a good system, that's reliable and has a lot of power. Sorry if we like to gloat but, but we know a lot of people say they can do, x, y and z and they can't do it. We state is like it is. Yes that hurts people. And I'm sorry.

To make a long story short:
If I rubbed you the wrong way I didn't mean to. I'm Sorry
We as a Team do not bite. Most of the time
We like to joke around, and tell you how it is. Again, Sorry
