Most of the field is automated this year. Balls are counted by a camera system as they exit the ball chute on the high goals, or as they cross into the side goals. The system is as yet untested in a competition, but I suppose we will find out how that goes after this weekend. Other aspects, such as a penalty and ramp points are scored by humans during and after the match ends for the final score. -Andy A. |

As of last week, they were looking for volunteers to do real-time, cause they were still experiencing some difficulties. Unless they have solved these problems in the past 7 days, I believe they will have volunteers monitoring this system. --Bil |

This game is so dependent on real time scoring. It can't be played with out it. Given how real time scoring has gone in the past, I'm a little worried. I am hoping very hard that things work out in the fields favor. -Andy A. |

Re: Regional Webcasts
I cannot believe how impossible it was to find this thread. Took me more than 45 minutes to find it. Just proves how crowded this forum is.
Thanks to Philmont629 for bringing it up in another thread. This thread is now sticky in the regional competitions sub forum. |

Re: Regional Webcasts
EMU's Electronic Media program is planning on webcasting the Great Lakes Regional Friday and Saturday. I'll post link info when the streams (one for Dial-up, and one for Broadband) are up. We are also trying to get a link posted on EMU's home page www.emich.edu

Re: Regional Webcasts
Does anyone know if the Arizona Regional webcast is going tomorrow, friday and Saturday or just Saturday only?

Re: Regional Webcasts
Well, the Great Lakes streams are up. Splash page at the moment, we go live in the morning. Check out the EMU home page (www.emch.edu) under EMU News for an item that links to the page with the streams.
For those who just like to do things the old way, you can link to the streams manually by opening Quicktime Player. Go to FILE, and click on "Open URL in New Player". then enter either rtsp://164.76.124.68/FIRSTdsl.sdp for a broadband connection, or rtsp://164.76.124.68/FIRAST GLR du.sdp for a dial-up connection. (Typo in that last one, but I didn't catch it until I had already given people the link. It works so I left it.) Steve |
