Well why you guys like to point out how otehr fantasy sport leagues are what has to be pointed out is Fantasy FIRST isn't like any other sport.
The game changes every year as do the players and there is very little information to go on, especially in the early going. Now Chairman's award level teams are pretty easy to ID even easier than team known for strong robots (yes even they have off years) so the Chairman's award is practically a gift to us.

Well, I personally like a challenge, and if you look hard enough, you are able to find the winning robots easily.
And with the chairmans winners, as you said, they are easy to identify, which I think takes alot of fun out of the game.

If you went and looked at it now, you could easily pinpoint the top 5 teams going for Chairmans this year and therefore, you give yourself that much greater a chance of those points.

I would not have figured 67 to win the Chairman's last year. I had a few teams ahead of them in mind and they won out so it's a little more complicated than that.

then, that's what gives you a trophy vs a L in a league. think about Football Fantasy. Do you pick all the players from the Texans because your a fan and you love them? Or do you pick players from the colts offense and the panthers D and so on?

Alex, i didnt understand the latter half of your point. Seems tohave no relevance...
I still think that since the chairmans is "chosen" by a panel, instead of a statistically based challenge or event, it should not be taken into consideration.

Exactly. You don't get points in fantasy baseball/football/basketball/whatever for having a guy who wins comeback player of the year/MVP/etc.

It's really lame that someone could hypothetically make three absolutely terrible picks and have zero halfway decent robots, but win the entire league because they had a team that won chairman's.

That's not true because your score will be knocked down due to your robots poor performance ( and you can only win the Chairman's award once so your two other robot are going to knock down your score anyways) and there have been well documented case of not so great robots riding the coattials of their partners to having a great day and good robots done in by really poor partners.

Yeah, but having an 80 point pickup...even with an 8 loss robot...they still make 48 points. Having a player ride a team is common though. Any football players performances are hindered or enhanced by the team surrounding them. Here it is no different.
