Re: 2006 Championship Divisions

great, now if all the triplets are on one feild......ALL of them will most likely go to Eninstine......

how would a six feild system work

5 Divisions?????

and if the feilds are based on regions....then where do Great Britin, Brizil, Mexico, Equador, and Isreal fall into......

if the last statement is true.......i mean divisions by region..... that means most likely the first will be true as welll

This means trouble.......BIG TROUBLE
(If this is true)

Did this little birdy deliver 2000 mailboxes at FIRST HQ and overhear this?

lol just kidding! I would really like to see 6 fields this year, the more matches the better.

6 divisions wouldn't really work. What would you do when it came time for the finals? Since 6 is not a power of 2, you would have to give 2 division champs byes. How would you figure out which two wouldn't have to play the first round?

Now 8 divisions...

He was actually referring to the amount of fields they have set up on the floor of the Georgia Dome. There are 4 for the 4 FRC divisions, one for Einstein (the finals and awards are done here) and one area for FLL and FVC.

Where did you find the list on Firsts site? Or is your list still a guess?

No, FIRST didn't release the divisions yet. My list is still a guess :(.

Oh well, all we can do is speculate until they do release the list......I'll just keep updating every day with the new team lists.

As I posted here according to the FIRST site, the deadline for payment is April 14. Which means we probably have until then to speculate....all the more time for "as of now" division lists......yay!! :D

Lord have mercy! I just spent a good portion of the night trying to organize the divisions by east, west, north and south like Andy suggested. Waaaay too many East Coast and Northern (basically Midwestern) teams to pull off.
That was a complete waste of time.

Heh, musta been the same birdy I heard back on pg4. :D I do wish they'd find a good way to reduce number of teams per division though.

Now 8 divisions...

They could just extend the Einstein play. Have a round robin style ranking system for the alliances, the top 2 ranked alliance then get round 1 byes int he elimination rounds. Who wouldn't want more awesome play on the Einstein field?

Re: 2006 Championship Divisions

I wonder if FIRST would want to build an extra playing field. After all they already have 8 playing fields built, and if they built 1 more they could make each of the 8 playing fields a division with the new field used a the Einstein field. This way the amount of teams playing on Einstein is a power of 2. Also, each division would only be about 43 or so teams.

Then again would there be enough space on the floor of the GD to hold 8 playing fields?

FIRST actually has 10 fields.

I think we will see the same old system, 4 divisions, ABCD style.

Same Divisions. The question now is how will the order in them be decided.

The White paper that someone posted helps. Update as you go

Einstien is the name of the field for finals. Division winners, an alliance each from Archimedes, Curie, Galileo and Newton, all compete on Einstien for the Championship Winners title. Semifinals between the four divisions, then two left to go for the gold!
