This should interest some peope...
I saw this thread about offensive power ranking and decided to generate the rankings for each of the four divisions. The four attached files contain the offensive rating of all the teams (sorted by team number and rank) and the average offensive rating for the corresponding four divisions. The offensive power ranking does not perfectly show the true strength of a team but it does give an indication. Newton (not suprisingly) has the highest average rating but it also has the highest number of unrated teams. Galileo is the weakest division according to the average offensive rating. |
Re: 2006 Championship Divisions
As much as all this data is awesome, please use it with caution. If the data from the currently unrecorded regionals came through I think a lot would change.
I do appreciate everyone putting this data together! - but just keep in mind that a lot of teams do a lot better after their first regional (at least in our case)...and the biggest regional on the planet (GTA) is unrecorded. $0.02  |
Re: 2006 Championship Divisions
Interesting thing (stop me if you've heard this one) - if you go to last year's championship page on first's website:
http://www.usfirst.org/robotics/2005/chevents.htm And click on the pages with the listings for the divisions, you'll see a list of teams, including some with numbers in the 1900's. I may be mistaken, but I think that new teams this year have numbers over 1750 or so, leading me to believe that, even if they are still in flux, the official FIRST division lists are up! Of course, I could be wrong, it could be some weird internet fluke. |

Re: 2006 Championship Divisions
I definatly think that you have something there...because 11 was in Newton last year (which is the 2005 list) but that list has teams that weren't in our division yet...so I'm thinking those are the divisions...but like someone said before, we have to wait till registration closes until it's official...but good job on finding that!

Re: 2006 Championship Divisions
My team is right where they should be on div list. THey might be testing the setup.
They might be messing with us. Who knows with them sometimes. :) 330 Registered and 10 pending. 340 teams |
Re: 2006 Championship Divisions
Good work, Kris.
Divisional assignments look to be ABCD... yawn. Oh, well. If FIRST did it a different way, some teams would email/call and complain like this: (say this in a good witch voice, like Carol Kane in the Princess Bride) "You did ABCD division selection the last 2 years, and this year it is DIFFERENT!! Why did you do that to us? aaaahhh! I'm melting!" No... no one ever does that to the Team Support folks at FIRST! Andy B. |
Re: 2006 Championship Divisions
Wow, awesome find, if this list holds true, 67 will move from Newton, where we've been since divisions started, to Archimedes; which looks to be a very competitive division as well! Too bad Sir Charles will probably be on Newton if he returns. :p
