Yes. There are four divisions at the Championships: Newton, Curie, Archimedes and Einstien. Each division plays like a regional.

The four divisions are Newton, Curie, Archimedes, and Galileo. :)

Einstein is the fifth field where the division champs play for the finals.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe prior to 2003 (or maybe 2002) the four divisions rotated through the Einstein field, so they had five fields in use instead of four, and could fit more matches in.

You are right. The total number of teams was smaller. Teams played in their division, but could be on different fields, including Einstein out under the big partial dome. Fans had to move around to see their team compete.

The main reason I hate watching FIRST at Disney.
The park was awesome but FIRST has definately improved when it comes to the actual event and unless Disney sudeenly builds a 60,000 seat domed stadium with a 2,000,000 square foot convention center attatched to it I really see no reason for them to ever go back.

Einstein was also it's own division (now replaced by Galileo).

When Steven Hawking dies...do you think his name might make a fifth Division?

Re: 2006 Championship Divisions

Why does he have to die first? There is no law saying you can't dedicate something to a living person.

I think we'll see Da Vinci first... he might serve VEX rather than FRC though.

Re: 2006 Championship Divisions

If I remember correctly DaVinci was the name of the FVC field last year...but they could always change that around.

Did you notice that the Poofs and Johnny Five (254 & 968) are in the same division on that list? You might get to see at least one set of twins team up in Atlanta.
