sortof a repost from another thread

1995 Audi A6 2.8L quattro,5s manual tranny, 250k, excellent condition, once i get it (if i do:o ) i'm sure a new remus exhaust and 17" wheels will find their way onto her. I was thinking of a bi-turbo but two problems. It's a 2.8 not the 2.7 so it will be a totally custom job, and second I'd like it to keep running. I've upgraded my r/c cars enough to know that twice the displacement can cause ten times the gear stripping etc. The good thing is that it's a 5 speed manula so it can handle the bi turbos, and automatic wouldn't. pes tuning makes a supercharger but I'd be refueling twice daily. 180bph is not so bad in the end.

Re: What kind of car do you drive??

1994 Pontiac Grand Prix, 3.1 L.

Poor car, not in the best shape of it's life. I keep taking it back to the shop for overheating and they test it and can't figure out what is causing it or even to get it to overheat. I am just about fed up with them. It's been to them about 5 times in the past week and a half. They've already replaced the intake manifold (that it was leaking out of) and the water pump (that it was leaking out of) and have even run pressure tests on the head gaskets and it passed. I am GOING CRAZY!!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am not really wanting to replace the car until i know its gone.

You have a Camaro, with gobs of torque, and decent bhp, N/a, and you want a ROTARY? Those things can barely hit 300bhp n/a, and the turbocharged ones, have fun rebuilding every 75/100,000 miles. Oh, and the torque, fuggedaboutit.

To the MX3 and SA22C owner, ditch the wing on the MX-3, it looks so out of place, even if it is OEM.

well, the reason i want a rotary is because of its awesome weight balance and handling characteristics (i sooo want to do autocross) and i know the FDs were and still are dominators of that sport. I dont mind the maintenance i think it would be kinda fun. well, i guess im crazy....

Anybody know anything about Garrett turbos?

I'm thinking around next year of getting a GT2871R (with the ATP Eliminator kit). http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...ory_Code=VVWTK

With an intercooler, software and exhaust people are easily hitting 13.5 quarter miles. Doesn't seem like that fast, but its AWD and full stock luxury interior.

Miatas and RX7's run in different classes. Both do well in their respective classes. The last generation of RX7's ran against late model Corvettes in the mid-90's, and often beat them. The Miatas are in a "slower" class.

last year i auto-X'd the mx-3, but this year i got the rx-7, currently being rebuilt with a bridgeport 13B TT

looking for about 400 hp or so.

the current engine runs but bairly, i suspect a dead apex seal or a bad carb. None the less its only a 12a (1.2L) with about 100hp, not nearly enough for the car.

people people the only vehicle worth talking about would be ford trucks or diesel trucks made by either ford or dodge the other companies suck especially japanese trucks. if i had a dodge ram 3500 cummins deisel i would smoke anyone out there. I've seen cummins in ford trucks with 900 horsepower. i'd like to see these little bemmers try to smoke that. Wait till ford start using CAT diesel engines in their trucks. those will be the best trucks out there. so far in this thread the olny trucks are rangers which are better than a car but still not the same as F-350's.

alright how come nobody drives any muscle cars or classics. (btw the only thing close to a muscle car in the true meaning of muscle cars are the corvette, camaro, and viper.) i read a little bit about a 66 mustang but thats about it.

now i love american cars, especially the muscle that came out in the 50's, 60's, and 70's. These cars, at the hieght of their popularity throughout the 70's, came with around 400 hp stock. now with a few options on the engine you could be getting a 500+ hp car from the showroom floor. These cars were actually not that expensive when inflation is figured out. These kind of cars are not made anymore sadly enough, but true carguys will always restore them.

right now im in the middle of getting my lisence, and i practice driving in a 92 olds cutlass supreme. but my dad, who grew up in the 60's and 70's always loved classics and muscle cars. hes owned alot of muscle cars (when i say alot i mean 19). he would restore them and sell them to guys who didn't know how to restore cars. the money he made would go to the next car restoration.

the last classic he owned was a yellow 1932 ford coupe (like in american graffiti) way back in 1990. he sold it and if i wasn't 5 at the time i would have stopped him.

So now to the question of what will i be driving?

i will be driving a 1955 chevy bel air. It is a former drag car from california. the attachment is what it looks like now. as you can see no rust, no major body damage at all.

this is what i hope it ends up looking like:

planning on dropping (if we can afford it) a 454 big block in it. if not we got a 350 small block waitin. id like to keep the paint how it is and the interior. everyone would think the car would suck just because the paint does. but it would really be just one kick butt drag car. so i could pull up next to a toyota or honda or any other import and just leave it at the light. (i dont like imports at all, chevy all the way)

Sorry for the consecutive psost... But Bias-ply slicks!!!! COOL!!!!!:yikes:

Since you asked... hehe...

I picked up early in the fall so I haven't logged too many miles with it, but this is what she's got:

1.6L DOHC B6ZE engine
t3/t4 hybrid turbo, 50-trim wheel as she sits, will probably get a 60-trim wheel when it's rebuilt (not happening during build season :p )
~24"x6"x2" FMIC
550cc/min RX7 injectors
MegaSquirt ECU with EBC (needs the solenoid replaced, running 7-10psi on mecanical bypass at the moment)
MS also gets the redline up to ~7800RPM :D
De-powered steering rack
AC deleted
No soft top, hard top though! (hard top is lighter)
Clutch-type LSD from an RX-7
Hard-dog SCCA roll bar
KYB-AGX 8-way adjustable shocks w/ sleeved coilovers, 400lb-in springs in the front, 300lb-in in the rear (STIFF!) riding on NB mounts (more travel)
stiffer, and adjustable, front sway bar, handles very neutrally at the moment
rolling on Kazera KZM spec miata wheels with S.Drive tires on the street, I have a set of Toyo Proxes for the next auto-x season :D

It needs a little engine tuning a new boost control solenoid to get full potential out of the engine, and a real turbo-back exhaust system so my ears don't bleed. That's my spring project.

I also have a 1.8L engine waiting for a rebuild and a ported head when the 1.6L goes pop :D

My cars have changed since I last posted here.
I now have two cars that are quite different from each other, both of which get good gas mileage.

2010 Mini Cooper 6-speed manual
2010 Toyota Prius Two

1985 Mercedes Benz 300SD Turbo-Diesel
It has a Straight-5 engine (Yes It is a 5 cylinder car). When I first got it, It had a bad transmission(slipped out of 3rd, and could never get to 4th). My father and I replaced it, now it just needs new brakes and a new windshield.

I currently have a 2004 Honda Accord. It's been in the family since then, but has only recently become my car:

My old car wasn't really "old" because it was also a 2004 model. It was a Pontiac Grand Am SE. I sold it when it still had five digits on the odometer- 99,960 miles. Good car, and never had to replace anything it except two tires (didn't know how old the old ones were and decided to play it safe), get a scrape fixed on the driver side near the back tire (got hit pretty good while parked at school), a new radio (the factory radios have very faulty displays because the replacement also died quickly), and the oil in two and a half years of owning it:

Do you burn fryer oil in it? A former team member had a similar car, and he used fryer oil from his parents' restaurant. It would coagulate, though, in unusually cold weather here in Florida, and he'd mix some regular diesel fuel with the other stuff. You have to filter the particles from the fryer oil, but those old Mercedes seem to burn it ok. I hear that the newer car diesels, like VW TDI's and the current M-B's are much more picky about fuel than the older M-B's.
