I like it.

Just out of curiosity, what led to the decision to go with the DeWalts over your legendary four-speed?

(internal thought: three speeds or four, it's still going to kick butt.)

that was the first thing to poped in my head, as SparX adopted the famous 4-Speed Tranny and loved it. Why change it?

The Dewalt was what we needed this year: it has the ratios we need and is a good fit for the minibike motors. It was an easier and lighter solution than the 4 speed this time around.

That's some innovative and amazing engineering there! :)

What led you to that idea?

Team 971 did also, with excellent results. That was some impressive engineering there. great job and excellent white paper! Looks to be a formidable robot. See you at Champs!

The first thing that popped into my head when the game was announced was 33's robot from 2004. I was hoping you would use that design again because I was interested to see how you would incorporate a shooter.

Inspiration came from some child toy air guns and some old robots of ours

hey it is a nice looking machine and looks like it will be very competitive i was wondering if you guys were going to use something similar to 04's robot and it is pretty similar and is very creative. well good luck and see you at EMU, Detroit, Grand Rapids and Atlanta yeah we're with you guys all the way but good luck. :)

I'm lovin the detailed hopper, fits your team name nicely :P

We have the same concept on the ball picker-upper, you might wanna cover that up with something light so nothing from other robots gets caught in your bands.

No offense, but telling the Killer Bees they should do something is like telling Micheal Jordan how to dunk a basketball (or Lebron James for you young'ens who don't know who Michael Jordan is)...

The robot looks beautiful and I can't wait to see it up close at GLR...

Hey, I'm just tryin to help them out :P you dont wanna loose a round because your bands slip and you cant get the balls up to your hopper. ;)

But yeah good point I'm sure they've thought of it already.

Yeah, if you look at the 2004 robot above (the one at a 60 degree angle with the ground...btw I love that picture so much, I was one of the drivers for that year and that match was one of the best of the whole season), we have used the bands before. We ended up putting a guard on at one of the regionals, they'll probably do the same thing this year if they have weight and if it becomes a problem. Surprisingly, it was really far less of an issue than you would think, but they did "derail" once in a while.

It's more of an issue than you think. If those belts can be reversed under power, someone should be planning how to cover them, because it is a "shooter" (there is discussion on here already about that ruling from Q&A). I'm not saying cover yet, just plan how to. Although I bet someone has already and is planning for doing it quickly at the first event if necessary.
