What an awesome regional.

What an awesome batch of finalists.

What awesome homework.

Wow. Man do I miss being a regular part of FIRST.

Does anyone have a ton of good video? I'd love to see it up on Google Video...I wish FIRST released the videos they shoot continually during the matches...

what an awesome game, what an awesome regional, what awesome teams, we all know how good all the bots were, but i do have a few questions:

was it just me or did the bottom seeded teams, especially the ones that were added on (9-11) not know who they were selecting, they almost always picked a robot that was already on the playing field. also the team the alliance captain finally decided on, made it seem to appear as if the team had not done scouting?

anyway: Good Job to 133, 1276, and 1519

Good job Andy! It has been an honor and a Privilege to work with such an amazing mentor.

First off I'd like to thank 1517 for providing us with batteries, as our robot was a wicked power hog, seeing as we managed to trip the 120 amp fuse in the final 20 seconds of Finals Match 3. If anyone has any footage of any elimination matches I'd love to see it. Also thanks to our awesome alliance partners for helping us put on the show we did. 1519, you blew me away last season, and unsurprisingly did it again, and 133 thanks for mentoring us and letting us pick you.

After this regional, it seems all shooters are the way to go. It also seems the camera is far often more trouble than its worth (case in point: 172 took off their entire shooting mechanism and replaced it with a hopper because they couldn't get it to work). 296, I really wanted to meet you on the field, as you guys had one powerhouse of an alliance, but there's always next year. 40, you guys had an incredible autonomous routine, as did 319 and 1100. 562 and 549 are really good at the lower goals. 1721 is an incredible rookie, I have no doubt that they'll be back, bigger and better in 2007.

Congratulations Andy Grady on your WFA!

Thanks to all the event staff for putting it on this incredible event. It really was a great time.

Re: BAE Granite State Regional

iCurtis, you guys built the robot that we wanted to build but didn't have the cojones to try.

The second you came out there my dad and I were like "oh no they di'n't!"

Seriously...your robot was awe inspiring.

Although I'm not sure that your thing about the vision thing was correct. Was 296's autonomous mode vision driven? Or their recalibration? Because they had probably the best pure distance shooter at the competition.

After BAE, there is one ironclad conclusion:

Barring a bewildering and incredibly unlikely twist of fate, if a team can score five or more balls during autonomous in the center goal and gain the 10 point bonus, that team will win.

I mean, 296's alliance scored 51 points between them during one alliance match entirely in the 10 second autonomous period. When their shooter was on...I never dreamed, in my wildest Laverian fantasies, that such a robot might come to pass. It was like witnessing Revelations. Same with your guys dominance, too--the way you crabbed and juked along the top of the ramp to position yourselves gave me goosebumps.

I don't think I've seen two teams (296 and 1276) so completely beyond the pale of performance since Hyper built their incredible arm bot in Raising the Bar.

And for those of you who think I am hyperbolizing...wait until some tape is uploaded.

p.s. As I said in another thread, a special kudos should be extended towards 1519 for being a sophomore team made up almost entirely of sophomores that has won themselves a ticket to nationals for a second year in a row. Wow.

I noticed you were able to get up the ramp at the start of the match easily, but not at the end. We guessed it was a battery problem.

Wait until you see 25. The thing is ridiculous.

Yeah, that was their only weakness as far as I could tell.
