Re: Tetris time!

AHA! So it was you!

I got 3 pictures of you: one stacked on a trash can, one walking in the lobby upstairs and one from across the Siegel center with people walking by and looking at this huge tetris piece.

This wasn't in any way influenced by 1up.com's Tetris video, was it?

I had seen that too. What do they call their thing, "8-bit theatre" or something like that?

Re: Tetris time!

My mistake. It was Mega64 that did it.

Capt.ArD 08-03-2006 11:07

Re: Tetris time!

yeah, mega 64 gave me the idea.

it was good stuff.

Re: Tetris time!

Haha! That's great! If I see you at regionals, I'll want a picture. That'll be something to show my grandkids :p

Re: Tetris time!

That made me laugh. I think we need to get more pieces to make it all the better.

MissInformation 08-03-2006 23:47

Re: Tetris time!

It would make me laugh too, except it shows you and whoever was working the camera outside where you weren't supposed to be according to the field trip form you signed

I only have little tiny bottles of paint in a variety of colors, so unless you put paint on the home depot shopping list or have some at home, your lone tetris piece may remain lonely.

Re: Tetris time!

yeah, i got flak for that already...
i have some more blue paint, but it really doesn't take much to cover the entire thing, so a quart or a small amount of paint would be cheap to get.

home depot will actually give discounts on their paint that they messed up on.

looking forward to seeing you at Peachtree
I want a pic

Re: Tetris time!

That is the phattest lewt, we definitely need to make another block for that, perhaps the square. We'll take more video as well.

DHarris 09-03-2006 13:17

Re: Tetris time!

Hmm, we need a square, one of those 90 degree pieces that have 3 blocks, and one of the straight pieces to make almost a whole set of pieces (I know there are more, I just can't remember them) and then we can have one life size game of tetris! That'll be a good way to spend some spare time at the Peachtree regional :D

Capt.ArD 09-03-2006 14:24

Re: Tetris time!

good idea, but when i came up with that i realized: what happens to the lines we delete? I dunno, but i kinda like my legs. :D i'm rather attached to them. HAHAHAHA!
[/badpuns]

but yeah, we may create a square or the straight block. if another team is interested in helping us complete the set, i can post the dimensions necessary for making the blocks fit with each other.

the blocks are the 2 L blocks, the 2 Z blocks, the T block, the square and the straight line. we have only 1 L block right now.

Morgan Gillespie 09-03-2006 18:13

Re: Tetris time!

Not for long, a friend and I plan to make a straight block and the other L block. Painted too.

Might upload our plans tonight.

*claps* Bravo, my man. That's awesome.
Made my day a whole lot better...that's saying something.

Re: Tetris time!

Ah yes, Tetris guy! For the longest time I was wondering what you were and then it came to me halfway through regionals. I think you and I were the only two mascots to use boxes for costumes. You know, seeing this makes me want a music video too.

Re: Tetris time!

thx for all the cool comments :) were in the process (right now) of making 4 more pieces so we can make a complete wall (well one little piece is missing :p ) so you will see us at the peachtree

Phil! You must make another video so that i can see how all the tetris pieces worked out! Hope you guys have fun in Georgia! Don't forget me while your down there!

Re: Tetris time!

Haha, awesome!

Wow, I'm jealous. I really, really am. It's not even funny the amount of jealousy that is going on right now.

Oh, the jealousy...

I love tetris... I threw this together in about 30 minutes like 6 months ago, It's me playing Tetris on my clarinet/bass clarinet... Sorry if you don't like it:p

Re: Tetris time!

Ooh, what size are each of the individual blocks that make up the pieces, like 2 feet?
I just thought of this... If Every first team made one, then you could make a HUGE wall.
Just a thought, but what if teams started shaping their crates like tetris pieces, since postage is based on weight?

DHarris 19-03-2006 18:22

Re: Tetris time!

Haha! I saw you guys at the Peachtree Regionals. The first time I saw you I said (really loud) "Oh my god is that the tetris guy?!" And my entire team looked at me like I was a retard, but I never had my camera with me everytime you guys came by. You walked by like 4 times and I never had my camera with me, and was too lazy to get it. Darn. Don't you just wish life had a redo button? :p

You guys were great!

Re: Tetris time!

Are you guys gonna be at the championship event at the GA Dome in April? If so, could you give me the dimensions for the blocks so I could make a Z block (if there aren't any made already)? My team won't be competing anyway, so I'll be looking for something to do most of the time :p

Capt.ArD 20-03-2006 16:22

Re: Tetris time!

no, we won't be going to the championship this year. i'm bummed about that. but the dimensions of each cube are about 19 inches by 19 by 19. nobody made a z block, we didn't have anyone that wanted to walk around in such an uncomfortable position for so long. Trust me, those boxes get very hot inside and very uncomfortable. i reccommend cutting lots of small vents in unnoticeable places. a small fan i a corner would also be a good idea. have fun at atlanta!

ps. new video coming soon.
