Week 2 Regional Traffic Jam

With 8 regionals and 286 teams competing. Week 2 got alot of hype and complaints (from me as well) but in reality this is probably the future of FIRST. I mean as FIRST makes new regionals they're not going to expand the competition season so they're going to stack the week and fill them up with regionals. We may see them with double digits in the future and regionals will become even more regional.
So is this a good thing?

I know what you mean. I'd love to make it to GLR to see so many great teams and to Pheonix to see my parents and my brother's team this weekend. I won't make either, but I wish all the teams well. Next weekend is almost as bad. We'll be at Boilermaker and lots of teams we'd like to see will be in Chicago or Detroit.

That's the price we pay for our growth. I'd rather see some more spreading around, like a Midwest regional other than Buckeye on the first week, but crowding is inevitable.

Our team also has to take the damages of expansion. The same weekend as the Midwest Regional is the same weekend we volunteer at Detroit. Although we will miss such an awesome regional this year, we will have the advantage of attending another awesome regional somewhere else. :)

I think the new schedules have to happen, especially with teams that have financial issues that restrict their traveling distances. The FIRST season is designed to last from the beginning of the second High School semesters to the middle of April, allowing students to catch up and study their school materials in order to pass their classes and (if the student is a senior) graduate.

I understand what you mean. The crowding confusion and inability to go some regionals you may want to. I would prefer if they rotated regional weeks slightly so you could change things up easier but I think its logistically too difficult. An expasion to the season could solve this but, let's face it the build and comptetion sean already extends almost 4 full months and I don''t know if I could handle a longer season.

If FIRST starts expanding the season that starts to compromise other activites such as proms and tests. FIRST wants to work with schools not swim upstream against them so the five week season is staying as is with more regionals to till in the weeks.
