Advice on burning DVDs

I tried to burn our AVA entry to a DVD but it came out fuzzy & lost half the audio. The original is a Quicktime DV-NTSC file, as required by Autodesk. It's very sharp & the audio is fine.

When I burned our Safety Animation to DVD and it came out perfect. It was also a DV-NTSC file, but in AVI format. The original doesn't look any bettor or worse than our AVA entry.

I'm using the Nero 7. Any suggestions/recommendations? I hope I don't have to re-edit the video & save as an AVI file.

I rendered our video as an uncompressed avi format so I could burn DVDs to show people without losing quality. If you can (I highly doubt it though) re-render your video as an uncompressed AVI.
Or you can use Adobe Premiere to spit the video back out as an uncompressed AVI and then send it through the DVD burning program.

I have a question though. The only program I have it power producer gold. (yes it is the devil because its user friendly) The problem is it makes me create a Menu screen and then have the video after you push play. I want the video to play the entry automatically when you but the DVD in the player But that isn't going to happen with this program. Is this going to cause issues at the competition? I cant change it now because I'm leaving for St. Louis tonight.

I don't know about Power Producer gold but in Nero they hid the "Create Menu" check box so you have to dig around a bit to find it. The default is on.

I suggest using Adobe Encore DVD 2.0 demo. It might take a few minutes to figure out the software, but once you have your animation in the timeline you can choose whether you want the menu to play first or the animation.

Actually you did, Buddy. I dug around in my hard drive until I found the original uncompressed AVI. Thanks!
