177 - Simply Amazing, Unstoppable on the ramp.
20 - Always solid, and the posted pic looks great.
173 - Big capacity and accurate shooter
237 - If they can shoot on the fly as they claim...
716 - I love the one point/defense bots

In no particular order:

237 - Their launcher looks accurate, and they should have a solid autonomous mode.
195 - They can hold about 90 balls and will be a strong defensive player.
173 - RAGEs machine this year is as strong as ever, but it doesn't have an arm...
176 - If they have gotten their shooter system tuned up since BAE, Aces High will be a strong alliance partner.
177 - Need I say more?

Re: Top 5- UTC edition

237 if their shooter was improeved apon
195 amazing
716 fast amazing
177 awesome
176 seemed to improve since the UTC scrimage so they get bosted
173 if they fixed thier 1-2 small problems with ball pick up then they will as well be amazing...

358 may be new to the regional but don't discount them.

<shameless plug>

Video (40 Mb) of one of the last days of the build season. We were testing out the robot about halfway through the video. You can download the lower quality (10 Mb) video here.

^ Why 228 wasn't at the UTC Scrimmage. ;-)

3-speed transmission, holds 23-25 balls, floor and human player ball loading, shooter, turret, active tilt control, can get on ramp in >2 seconds. I think we may do well. ;-)

After one day, here's my top 5:

177 - .....
20
126 - the best robot here, let's see how it fares for the rest of the weekend.
195
237

Can't wait for tomorrow. And the day after, for that matter.

I agree.. I was out there all day today and it seemed everybody was having issues or inconsistent.. The compeition really looked to be getting much better at the end of the day though.. Team 126 looked awesome to start then I think they were trying new stuff or just having issues, Team 230 seemed to come out of nowhere in the middle of the day and looked impressive at the end.. 1071 had some issues but they looked good and they think they'll have the camera working tomorrow.. 181 looked pretty good until they were pushed around.. team 546 also looked like they were getting much better at the end too..

But practice day means nothing, I don't think 237, 173 and the vets are going to be under the radar for very long tomorrow, so we'll see what happens.

Re: Top 5- UTC edition

There are only 1-2 clear favorites going into friday...

716/195 for small ball bots

126 for shooter..

237 - 173 - 20 all had problems today wiether Weight, coding, mechanical, design, shooting speed... something was going wrong and if they worked out thier kinks they will be in the top where they normally are... if not they will still raise up

Hey Pete,

Thanks for the recognition.

I do truly believe the best 3 team alliance won today, lead by you guys. Everything from your selection strategy to your mix of offensive and defensive play were very impressive.

Unfortunately, we won't see you in Philly, but hopefully our paths will cross at Nationals (hopefully playing together, not having you beat us in the finals again like today!!!). Not that you need it, but best of luck in Philly.

I appreciate your thanks and comments. My team has worked hard over the last few years to take things that we knew were weaknesses in the past and work on them to make them strengths. Scouting and strategy are what have made our team do well since I joined the team as a mentor. This year we knew those were the two most important items to win, along with durability/reliability.

I'm glad to see that you bring up our balance as offensive and defensive. If you read most other threads you would think we didn't score a point!

Good luck for the rest of the season. We're already working on Atlanta situation.

Pete
