I basically painted it blue, gave it a wood circle, and a white frayed wire and viola: the bombs from Legend of Zelda.

Wow Great job you are going to SBPLI regional right? If so bring it and show people because I think many people would be interested in seeing it in person. I know I would like to have a look at it...very nice job there :D

probably not a good idea to bring it. even though it's obviously not real to those who know what it really is, it could be real to someone else.

its so ridiculously fake I cant see anyone thinking of it as a real bomb.
<edit> I don't believe it would cause any sort of panic. maybe a few more opinions on this would be nice but I showed it to my brother who has never played any Zelda games and he knew it was fake instantly.

Yeah, as fun as it would be to bring it, it would definatley cause an uproar, but don't worry, I have a plan with the Poof Balls that will still be entertaining.

And hey, if the airport puts pictures of bombs like these on their posters, then they must surley consider it a threat still. :)

yes, it's obviously fake.. but think of it this way:
Hallow a poof ball out, fill it with ... stuff. . . and there you have it, a real bomb, that looks completely fake.

Don't forget that some schools (and places) have a zero tolerence policy. Most of the trips the teams make to these comps count as class trips in which the school's rules will apply during these trips. It only takes one person to complain.

Not to rain on your parade but I just wanted to make sure people are aware of that if they think of copying it. I personally think it's neat and you're the first one's I've seen do that to a puff ball. :)

Maybe you should ask your mentors and such to see what their opinion is on whether you should bring it in or not. I guess if you really are nervous about it then you should leave it because you don't need to worry about something like that at the competition. :(

I saw a team at UTC who made little caps out of poof ball halfs, they were quite cool

It looks cool at least some teams are having fun with the year. My team took an aluminum stick colored it orange and black along with the ball and gave it a name of POOF. Kinda like the volleyball from cast away Wilson, our engineer loved the idea, so we made one for him. When our driver would go on to field we would sometimes bring him out with them and say real loud POOF.It is orange and black ofcourse with dread lock hair and a orange and black hat that says 47 with a chief. It also has safety glasses on. It kinda looks scary though, like a shrunken head. :ahh: :yikes:

I like it. Now get a wooden sword, a green tunic, and a boomerang and just walk around your town, just to see what people say. Throw the boomerang at things and shout in glee: "Haha! Your paralized!"
