Midwest Regional Top-5

I'm getting a little antsy per usual. Going along with what seems to be a trend, I have decided to create a Top-5 thread about the Midwest Regional. Midwest always seems to be a stunning regional with something new in it's exciting sleeve each year... so without due... I present you with my Top 5 of the 2006 Midwest Regional.

Top-5:

71 - Never a doubt that they will be right there at the end no matter what...
111 - Is there a need to explain? I wonder what there automode holds in store for us this year...
1525 - Had a really good robot last year as rookies... wildcard of the bunch.
107 - Allianced with them last year... one of my favorite teams overall.
648 - I haven't got the slightest clue as to who else to put in there... but look out for 648. Magnificent robot this year.

I miss the usual teams that attend. Boilermaker makes me sad. :(

Looks like 71 has yet another strong robot winning the St. Louis regional and teh St. Louis chairman's award today. So I would say you are dead on with that one...and 111 will probably be up there, but you never know. We'll find out next weekend.

I cant believe the lack of love on CD for one of the oldest and most competitive regionals over the years there are more regionals to pick from, but come on hardly a post.
Looking at the team list there are only a few team that I recognize. I am looking forward to seeing old friends and making many new ones. If you and your team are new to the Midwest regional I hope you all have a fun and successful weekend .Please make sure you stop by team 107 pit and say hey. My father
Ron loves to talk and make parts on his lathe in the pits .We will be working bugs out on Thursday ,but we alway find time to help any team .

good luck to all
Jim Schaddelee
Team 107

Well i've been watching the regional online for the last couple years, but i'm not so good with just the numbers of the teams competiting(FIRST should also list the names of the teamst that are attending.) I don't really have a top five but there are two teams I know you can bet on being there in the finals:

71 - They've already won a regional and seem unstoppable as usual.
111 - Engineering marvel every year. I vote for them just becuase of the awesome factor.

As unstoppable as most people think 71 is, there always seems to be a team that can do that at Midwest. Take last year for instance, if they were constantly harrassed by a robot that was mobile (like 79), they could be distracted. I hate to relive this event, but our alliance was 1 point away from defeating them and 111 in the semi-finals. But I digress, team 71 will, undoubtedly be there... whether they are last in the standings (2004) or first (2005). The deciding factor at Midwest?? I believe it will be all of the rookie teams. Whether they can actually do what they say they can and the team with the least number of immobile robots (seems to be a trend at Chicago) will be at the top. Time to stark packing!!! _Off to WallyWorld!!!_ I'm sooooo excited!
