Carrie Underwood won last year and won awards for "Top New Female Vocalist of the Year" and "Breakthrough Video of the Year", and was nominated for "Most Inspiring Video of the Year", from the Country Music Television Music Awards in April. Yesterday, she won "Top New Female Vocalist Of The Year" and "Single Record Of The Year", and was nominated for "Top Female Vocalist Of The Year" and "Song Of The Year", at the 2006 Academy Of Country Music Awards. I think she's doing alright. ;) |

Taylor Hicks - Rap Star. I could see that working.... Someone should try impersonating that combo at the IRI Talent Show. :p Taylor's got the soulful Otis Redding/Michael McDonald vibe going on. No one on that show was more genuine and down to earth as he was. Plus he's almost 30 and has gray hair - Soul Patrol! A typical Taylor performance |

Re: AMERICAN IDOL 2006!
Frankly taylor will always be a karaoke lounge singer. Frankly the guy makes me wanna vomit everytime i hear or foresee him "singing", if you even DARE to call it that. kat at least had a voice and hit the notes correctly, though i don't think she should have won. if ace, bucky, chris, elliot and the other dude sang better than taylor..it says A LOT. kelly clarkson and carrie underwood are the only people who won AI and have made it..and actually deserve it. Ruben's awesome, but he doesn't have the passion to do it. and don't get me started about clay, fantasia..and so on.

Re: AMERICAN IDOL 2006!
Sadly, i stopped watching after Kevin got kicked off...It kinda bums me out that he didn't make it all that far, but at least he's got talent and knows it, it must be rough getting as far as he did :D

I was also a big fan of Kevin. He had heart and poise. And he's a member of Team 545!

But, honestly, if you attempt to think like a mindless fool for a moment, you can sort of understand where the public is coming from. They don't want to fall in love with someone's voice over the radio, and never be able to watch them in concert because they're absolutely hideous. That still doesn't explain Chris though. If you ask me, he had amazing talent, and he didn't look half bad. Idiots in the American public ruined it for the rest of us. |

Michael McDonald stint w/Steely Dan long time run with Doobie Brothers Michael is an artist who learned early on what collaboration means, working with a diverse mix of musicians and writers throughout his career. He had 'The Voice' for a long time. ok - back to AI |

On a side note: The "kid" who came in and was a real country boy... almost cried when Simon criticized him. He was invited back Tuesday night to sing some cowboy songs... he's my Assistant Choir Director's cousin... I think. Either way, she's related to him somehow. |
Re: AMERICAN IDOL 2006!
I was never into the whole "Reality TV" gigs that we have today, I would much rather watch a sitcom. However, if I am bored I usually watch the last episode because they finally get to singing and not talking by that point. I was very disheartened by the fact that 60 some million people voted, "more than any American Presidential election." Something has gone wrong in our society.
