Re: 2006 Lone Star Regional robot pictures

Team 499, Toltechs, will be back for our sixth season.

We have a picture database of just less than half of the robots on our website.

http://www.toltechs.com/2006/index.htm

You will find the LSR robot pictures in the '06 Innovations page with a link at the bottom of that page.

Suprisingly missing is team 57
Hard drive crash, ya that's the ticket ;)

624 Cryptonite will be there, green spiked hair and all! We're really looking forward to it as we consider the Lone Star to be our "home-town" competition.

By the way, anyone who is interested in getting their hair spiked up for the competition just needs to stop by our pit. You can get your hair spiked, and get a pin saying "My hair was spiked by 624"

See y'all there!

57 isn't there because of the whole "Oh no the robot isn't finished we're doomed no we don't have time for pictures" thing. Heh. We've plans for quickly fixing the slew of minor problems we were having in michigan, however, so we should be putting on a much better showing.

Also, fear 624. as far as I know, they were the only team to actually get the vision tetra on the center goal in autonomous. They only missed immortality because the darned thing didn't settle enough to count. I fully expect them to be autonomously targetting opposing robots and taking them out with poof balls aimed at power switches. Or something similarly impressive.

Team 1817 will be there and will hope to have a STAMP or FSN Scouting Database on wifi (g/b) open to everyone or come by and ask for a printout.

Scouting Lookup Info:
username: texastech
password: redraiders

Also come by our pits and check out our Promotional video which features a time lapse of the last 5 days of us building our robot.

Finally we are taking bunch of X-Boxes and maybe a few DLP Projectors. We will be staying at the Holiday INN Astrodome and hope to get something going with some other teams.

Now its time for me to pack up drive 8-9 hours to H-Town

Yikes! I guess we better mount our no-fault power switch cover, not to mention our static discharge proximity bomb! Well, wait, I guess we better finish the robot first... :D

I just came back from the AstroArena, and things are looking sweet! There's a great group of volunteers out there who have set things up to run really smoothly in the morning. I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight, I just know it.

Myself and a few friends are watching via webcast from the UK. One of my friends (who isn't involved in a FIRST team) has asked me to say that 704 is the best looking robot she has seen, saying "the design is lovely and looks professional..."

There seem many good robots at Lone Star, and from what I saw first hand at NYC too, there seems to be a high standard this year. Well done everyone.

I had so much fun. It was amazing. I know the rest of my team 1888(the pink robot) had fun as well. We had trouble practice day and then had some problems on Friday but Saturday everything was fixed and we had two incredible matches. We were kinda bumed that we didnt get picked but its understandable. Thanks everyone for the great regional. I would like to extend my thanks to all the teams that let us borrow stuff when we needed it. 364 was very generous and allowed us to use their tether when ours went missing. Thanks alot guys we woulda been nowhere without you.

Thank you everyone for making 06 Lone Star another great regional. It is my last time attending Lone Star as a student as I am about to graduate but the last 4 years have been a blast.

Congrats to 231, 418, and 1421 for winning.

See you all at Championship and look for some changes to our robot.

Let me add to Allen's post to say I also had a great time and thanks to all the teams, supporters, sponsors, volunteers, and Reliant Arena staff that made this such a fun event. This was my fifth year with the team and each year is more fun. I had several guests come to the competition for the first time, and they were blown away by the energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge shown by the students.

And a special thanks to Team 1884, our neighbor in the pit, for being such a great neighbor. A rookie team from London, UK, they did just great in the competition (8th seed Alliance Captain), won a Judge's Award, and were just fun to be around. Sure hope we see you guys again next year.

Thanks to our alliance partners 704 and 1496. We got knocked out in the quarter-finals, but we all gave it our best shot. And of course, congrats to teams 231, 1421, and our buds from Austin, 418 for the Championship. Great final matches.

On to Atlanta, with a better robot. Hope to see many of you'all there.

Re: 2006 Lone Star Regional

Well, I know I had a great time, and from what I could tell, so did the rest of my team. Though we had constant issues with our chains we finally got them fixed, only to be plagued by faulty code in the elimination rounds. Because of that we were replaced in the semis, and had to cheer from the sidelines. Though we didn't get to do what we knew we were capable of, team 1255 still had a great time. Twas my last time to attend as a student, because I'm graduating and will be attending the University of Texas at Austin next year. Might have to call up 418 and see if I can help them out as a college student...

Thanks to everyone in Houston for your great home style hospitality, it was great. Our team had an amazing time, and the fun never stopped for us. There were some amazing robots there, 118 231 148 418 364 etc.. it was great to see such stiff competition. Congrats to 231, 418, 1421 for the championship you took down a strong alliance it was quite impressive.

Special thanks to our alliance in the eliminations 148, 1255 ( it was an unfortunate series of events but you guys had an amazing robot ) and 1745, also gratz 1745 on your rookie all star hopefully we'll be able to see you at nationals.

Hopefully we'll see some of y'all ( picked that word up in Texas ) in Atlanta if we can make ( still working on funding ) but can't wait till we can compete in Houston again.
