Andy Baker doesn't start "rookie" teams.

(Seriously, just watched his team balance today in practice. They look like they have about 8 years experience or more.)

Andy Baker is also the Andy in AndyMark, and it's not secret why it's not called MarkAndy (Mark Koors V2 has omniwheels!). (Jokes from earlier in this thread.)

Oh, and a WFA recipient, and rumored to be part of the band Dean Simmons and the Kamen Brothers.

And yes, he can still build a robot to score all 18 balls into the top goal autonomously and then cycle through retrieval and shooting of all of them until putting a double balance on all three bridges (in eliminations, that's a triple balance on his own and a force field to block the other bridge). In fact, he finished it in Week 1. He just hasn't deployed it in competition.

I was only kidding. I do know who Andy Baker is, but I didn't know all of this!:yikes:

Funny story: We were having trouble with our motors (RS550's) in a Double Doozy, so in the middle of the Fingerlakes Regional, we called Andymark. Who picked up? None other than the legendary Andy Baker. He gave us some advice which we are now implementing for DC. What a guy!

Andy Baker beats his opponents 130-0. In autonomous.

Rumored???

Oh yea, Andy Baker personally pulled Delphi out of bankruptcy. :p

I'm a Technokat 45 alumni and own a Dean Simmons & Kamen Brothers t-shirt.

Andy Baker will someday tell his grandkids that he was a young lad he designed a way to walk to school downhill both ways.

Actually, he walked omnidirectionally without loss of speed or torque, with an intuitive control system, and without additional complexity.

Andy Baker has a rookie team going to the Champs, and a supplier booth to worry about, and a talent show to help run on Saturday night, and he still signed up to be an inspector.

<Sigh> I bow to his perrenial awesomeness.

Hey! Maybe there's more than one of him?

Sounds about right... and they're all walking downhill to St. Louis and back.

How awesome would it be to be inspected by him?

Be careful what you wish for - you might just get it. :D

Student: "Couldn't we just do ..."

Mentor: "Um ... You want to try to get that past Andy Baker in inspection?"

Re: Andy Baker

When Andy Baker inspects, Al S. steps in to shield the students from the awesome engineering aura that Andy Baker generates, not to answer any inspection questions.

A full dose of the aura is enough to turn the most diehard liberal-arts student into an engineering student, and an engineering student into a genius. (Evil genius is also possible--but the evil part doesn't come from Andy Baker.)

(Al--I can never spell your last name right...)
