Yea... sorry about that, I was in the middle of an upgrade to the site when my parents decided that we were going to go see Failure To Launch... pretty good movie, quite funny.

Re: Team Size?

our web team has 4 students
we don't have any web mentors... we only have one teacher for the whole project and he usually helps the building team

whats amazing is that our web team learned everything from the beginning
by themselves, they learned HTML, asp, php, Photoshop and Flash.
i think they did pretty well...

Our team has only one web-designer (and that is me :o )... I have to learn HTML, PHP, Flash, and Photoshop from scratch... Fortunately, other team members help taking pictures and recording videos and post some news occasionally...

and not one of our mentors really know anything web-design...

Re: Team Size?

wow, our team has three members and a great mentor, but only two of the team members really worked alot with the website, me and our team leader. the "other" webbie auditioned for the school play and got a part, so he basically didn't do much when it came to crunch time because the play took so much of his time. this year i did most of the content because i joined late, but i will have the honor of designing next year's site with my "partner in crime". Next, year, there is going to be at least two members; me and my friend from manufacturing, Nita. I hope we get some new recruits though, more than two heads are better than... well, two heads. ^.^

Re: Team Size?

Sweet.

Don't be too worried about html (as it's easy), css is more important then php in terms of learning things, then after that learn basic php.

Be sure to clean up the code that imageready gives you too, grr automated things are always messy.

Yea me and my friend are already working on next years site, it's almost done, we just have to make it better.

That's also another thing that helps, a helpful team.

If we had a group of people taking pictures and giving us announcements/dates/stories, then our site would've been better.

Yeah, Brandon and I we're supposed to do it, but I had to do the Giveaway/shirts/hotels/etc. so I didn't really have time and Brandon, well, was playing cards. I'm sure they'll realize that we need our SCIPS team back next year and not just a couple people from other teams.

Re: Team Size?

My web site team is led by me and has a few photo gallery people, a few forum moderators and admins, a few people who wrote some content, and two others who help with some programming, and a mentor/supervisor.

We need a graphics or Flash person.

We also work with a lot of other teams on various projects, such as our web ring, STAMP, and Tool Guide.

Re: Team Size?

I was basically the only person on the web team, with my brother helping me, and no mentor other than one teacher who had to approve anything before I passed it along for uploading to another. However I did do a lot of other stuff during the build season, and between needing to do the inventor website for next years submission and the actual site, I'll basically be full time web team.

Re: Team Size?

I worked on most of it myself in spare time, but another student hosted it.

Re: Team Size?

We had a 3 person team too... We each did different pages but only one student knoew how to upload it to our server...&( so in the e-mail proccess alot of stuff got mixed up and stuff so it didn't turn out like it was supposed to but its ok.... It was my first year on the team and didn't want to take over or anything but what do you guys think looks better? A picture backgrowned (like our site) or a white/color backgrowned with borders and stuff? Personally i think the judges like to plane color back rather than a picture and i like th eplain aswell... but whatever! Oh yeah the link is in my sig!

Re: Team Size?

Our web team is basically two people, one guy doing all the coding and imaging stuff and I sat with him as we built it and worked with him on design and aesthetics, and wrote all the content.
We have three more people involved, one who has given input and written newsletter content, one who has done a bit of coding fixing our bugs, and our hoster who hosts the site and integrated gallery software into our site.
