Re: Who are your sponsors?

We have a large variety of sponsors; mainly General Motors but here are a few others:

Fast Eddie Racewear (Uniforms)
Local dentist
local doctor
CAW Local 222 (Union representing GM employees)

A lot of our sponsors were obtained through networking. Talk to the parents of students and give the students your packages to give to their parents. That is how we obtained many small but helpful sponsors!

Re: Who are your sponsors?

Here's a great booklet that Gail Alpert, our team leader and a huge help for Detroit area teams and regionals for funding, put together... It's really a great piece to help get sponsorship...

Obviously you would need to modify it to suit your team, but it should be a good start...

I'm especially intersted in colleges, doctors offices, hospitals, etc. But please list any sponsors you have.

It'd help a lot.

We went through the same thing a few years back. We survived for a couple of years with just local companies. A couple hundred here, $1500 there adds up pretty quick. You might also want to talk with school officials, they may be able to help you find grants to get you by. Let me tell you its easier to replace a $1000 sponsor rather than a $30,000 sponsor.
We have had, grant money, tool & die shops, pizza shops, a welding company, a general contractor, local market, all sorts of places. Don't be afraid to go to anyone! What is the worst they can say, no?

Re: Who are your sponsors?

Built on Brains is blessed to have a long list of sponsors including these primary ones:

Gentex Corp. (where I work) - Manufacturer of automotive mirrors and fire protection devices
Herman Miller Foundation - Foundation associated with large office furniture manufacturer
ITW Drawform - Precision deep drawn and metal stamping
Mead Johnson Nutritionals - Manufacturer of baby formula
Midway Machine Technologies - Maker of Conveyor systems
Plascore - Manufacturer of honeycomb panels
Town and Country Group - Commercial controls, electrical, and telecommunications contractor
Transmatic Manufacturing - Precision deep drawn stampings and assemblies

We also get support for others like Holland Motor Freight, Zeeland Lumber and Hardware, West Michigan Uniform, the local supermarket, and small machine shops. In the 2000 season when Drawform stopped providing full support for the team we got help from many small donors and even our neighboring team's sponsor.

Having a wide base of sponsors and mentors from many of these companies is one of our greatest assets.

Work through parents, the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, engineering societies, the school board, anyone you can find contacts with. More and more teams seem to be getting grants from foundations also. Get your presentation materials ready and make arrangements to show the robot to groups. Have video and pictures to show at meetings with individual potential sponsors.

Re: Who are your sponsors?

Wow, you guys have a whole lot of sponsors. My team had only 3:

Ford
NASA
UPS

And Sanderson Industries was about to help us fabricate a body for our launcher, but because they didn't get it done and waited too late to inform us of that, we had to scrap the idea for a shooter.
