dream team
Out of the robots you have seen so far what would be the dream team of this game. I say 254 111 296 would be a great team
|
Re: dream team
25, 1126 and 229 would make an interesting show but I'd think they're run out of balls (two of them have to be human player loaded).
|
Re: dream team
111, 494, and 1625 would dominate any other team hands down. I think that the alliances score for the match would be somewhere around .... o say maybe 200
|
Re: dream team
Give me 25, 86, and 1902.
Why 86 and 1902? Despite the occasional tip, 86 is in my opinion better at receiving balls from the floor and HP than 233. 1902 is in for their autonomous--ten balls in the corner plus a few in the center will be a sure-fire win. Throw in a generally awesome defensive ability with its volume offense, and you're got a robot that is aces in my book. |
Re: dream team
1126,1114,217
Would take anyone.. |
Re: dream team
217, 254, (469/111)
Get this.. (469/111) picks up.. 217 loads up from the human player.. 254 HP's some, picks up some.. When they are satisfied, they all head to their scoring zone, and ALL go on the ramp. 217 in the corner, since they have a turret, 254 down the middle, and (469/111) on the other corner, because of their turret. When all three of them are on the ramp, you CANNOT defend them.. instead you have to just sit and watch them unload. In fact, they could take turns, to ensure that all their balls go in. |
Re: dream team
1114,111, and 469.. Think this alliance would take it all the way, just look at it and think.

Re: dream team
How about 126, 177, 176
All three score both center and corner, quickly and while being defended. All three have multiple autonomous options. All three can sweep the floor clean. All three can play good defense. All three can get on the ramp. |
Re: dream team
I have seen many GREAT teams this year, but I would love to see the 2003 National Finalist alliance of 25, 343 and 494 back together again. I think that would be a tough group based on performance so far this year. Raiders, MIM's, and Martians....OH MY! :)

We would like to see Team 25, 86, and 254 together. =)
-Arefin and Neha. |
Re: dream team
My dream team would include a robot that can dump the 1pt goal in autonomous, and two robots that can shoot the 3pt goal in auton, and all can play defense to some degree. Which teams fit these roles? I just don't know. But if anyone thinks of teams, you know what to do.

Re: dream team
254
968 111 |

But truthfully 111, and 469 for sure in a match. And the third is hard but although Beatty didnt win and some people might be tired of hearing about them it did take all 3 robots in the finals including 111 to stop 71. If you let them get 1 shot off they will prob have about 9 to follow. There crab drive really helped them with there offensive manuevers. I really didnt get to see 217 in a match but heard graeat things from them at Detroit. They got there bot working and were making shots left and right. Thinking of 111, 469, it might be a good idea to have a good defensive robot that can heard alot of balls and dump in the lower goal. Such as 322 or 1. 322 especially can hold like 40 balls and dump really fast, plus as an added bonus a good bot for defensive purposes of holding off defenders while ur team is trying to shoot. The same thing with 1 they can pickup balls and dump them and when they go for the lower goal the can be almost midfield to make them in the lower goal. :yikes: Plus this robot can shoot balls if neede and play nas a good blocker on defense and a good screener of offense. When making a All-Star team dont try to make alliances that will go out and just shoot. There robot might be able to sink all balls in auto mode, but what if they are top heavy and tip easy. The other alliance will have 2 minutes to cover up to a 100 point defecite. take away 25 for ramp and thats 75. most matches I saw in the finals were between 50-70 points for each alliance. That score was with defense being applied without defense and set of three robots in the finals could vary well score 100 + points. :D |
Re: dream team
233, they just scored like 39 pts in ten seconds at boston.
343, has same design as 233, so could mean double trouble. 254, you go to focus on this team as a distraction... you can not, because this team has tooo many offensive threats..... and i know all can play some defence as well the best defence is a good offence..... but yet i like the tipping. |
Re: dream team
we could all see some serious action with the combo of 25, 103, and 293. 25 and 293 are great, the human player loading doesn't seem to affect them in the least. also, 293 can play some serious defense

Don't forget about 1024 and 85...they will stun all...also noteable is 1038 and 135.

Re: dream team
I would like to see 254, 1111, and 175 in an alliance. (254, no questions asked.) (1111 and 175 were some of the best multi-purpose robots I've seen at Cheaspeakes.)
|
Re: dream team
team 25 is an amazing shooter and fighter and after watching the Boston regional, team 233 is also. if you put those two teams together with another shooter/defensive bot, like ummmmmm... team 1279 they might just be unstoppable.
|
Re: dream team
I'll just restrict myself to robots I've seen in person: 254, 968, 753. You know about the Poofs and Johnny Five, but you might not know 753, which is a tank-treaded shoving monster that was agile enough to hold 254 to about 6-8 points one match at Portland. They were on the winning alliance with 254 at PNW, too. They sort of shoot the center goal, but who cares? You pick a robot, and it never scores with 753 guarding it. I really like 330, the Beach Bots, and 488, the X-Bots, but we only get to put together one alliance, right? It also hurts to leave out 492... and 1138... &c. Actually, Top Gun played defense really well, too, but we aren't quite in 753's league.
And, hey, the idea was to put together an interesting alliance, right? |
Re: dream team
These play off of what I have written about ideal alliance structure in other threads:
Best I have seen in person: 343, 1731, 1414 Best alliance so far: 254/968, 1114/1503/1680, 395 All 3 (6) of those spots are very slight though, the alliance could easily become: 233, 111, 1414 or many other combinations. |
Re: dream team
Got to go with 111,1625,469
|
Re: dream team
okay to add another alliance to the situation I'd love to see
111, 1114/1503, and 1901 111 - I've watched them on webcast and they look amazing. 2 Regional Wins with thier amazing machine. Great offense and defense when needed 1114 - I haven't gotten the privledge to see this triplet in action but i'm sure it is one heck of a site to see. 2 Regional Wins, and a great machine. Great offense. 1503 - same as 1114 1901 - Yeah this may be a rookie team but I think they have what it takes. This compact little machine was one that took me by suprise at FLR. 2 Rookie Inspiration awards and a great robot. |
Re: dream team
111, 494, 1747
|
Re: dream team
Now here's the $1,000,000 question: Why pick the twins or the triplets over one or the other???? I mean yes there's driving skill involved, but why are people picking 494 over 70 and same thing for the triplets???
|
Re: dream team
because a copy is not an orginal

Re: dream team
Most people are picking 1114 over 1503 or 254 over 968 or 494 over 70 because some people aren't making educated choices here.
However 254 over 968. My reasoning would be: 254's drivers have proved in the past they are good. They can handle all situations thrown at them, however 968 hasn't been on the big stage like 254 has. I'm just a little skeptical of how 968 would react out thier. (nothing against you guys) 1114 over 1503. This would be hard to make a choice because you would actually have to see how they play each other to make a good choice. But once again I would have to say it comes down to drivers. 494 over 70 because 494 is known as a Defensive robot. So since they have an offensive robot we all know they can play both, even if thier robot doesn't look like a defensive one right off the bat. just my 2 cents on that little issue. Tim |
Re: dream team
We were at the Waterloo Regional and 1114 has much much better drivers than either 1680 or 1503. All three robots performed very well, and we were thankful for the alliance with 1680, but 1114 had an absolutely incredible drive team.
|
Re: dream team
I would say probably something like 25, 469, and 1747.
The first two, I have seen a reputation for incredible shooting. 1747 empties a bunch of balls and plays wicked defense. |
Re: dream team
It's like they said -- I would give 254 a slight edge over 968 because their drive team is just a little sharper at this point in the season, but that could change at the Championships, and the difference is only this much.

Re: dream team
i think 121, 233, and 1568 would be a great team we won the boston regional and though we had some technical difficulties in the beggining we def showed our power i think the best type of team is 2 awesome shooters and an awesome defense and we play great defense and 121 is a very nice shooter and hard to play defense and 233 just puts them away like nothing. i could definitely see the same alliance doing great at nationals if it only happened but we shall see
also i would like to say teams 25 111 464 i hear and saw great things and we will be looking and visiting to say hello in nationals good luck to all its gonna be an awesome week. |
Re: dream team
While the triplets are awesome robots, I think it would be sickening in a way, to see all three of them together. Part of the enjoyment of watching a match, to me, is seeing six very different robots with different skills/abilities for each.
I really don't have anything against those teams individually. It was great playing both with and against them. :) |
Re: dream team
111
469 65 yes 2003 all over again haha <3 |
Re: dream team
the show that 121 and 233 put on in the finals of boston was amazing, add in there 25 and your talking about 70+ points in auton mode, the way that pink just lit up the ring was amazing. The match would be close then they would jsut unload a string of 15-20 balls in the top goal, it was amazing
|
Re: dream team
Here is another alliance i would die to see.
121, 233, and 1126. All turrets (I do believe), and all extremely accurate. and they all have automodes. |
Re: dream team
Teams 233, 121, and 213 would be unstopable!
|
Re: dream team
Let me think
An aliance with my team in it... 25 343 494 We would be three strong scorers. Defense, who cares about it if you can score 100+ points. Or 111 254 1114 the second would be tough to stop. You can't guard the Poofs the whole match with simbotics there. The one problem is that 111 and 254 go to very similar scoring spots and could concevibly be stopped at the same tim.(Not Likely though) |
Re: dream team
whatever the alliance is it has to have two good shooters and a defensive bot
as davea412 said: 121,233,1568 looks good, but i hear 25 is also a good bot, something risky is three very good shooters: 121,233,25?? |

ide say 1114, 1680 and 1596. . . we set a regional high (128:32) @ waterloo >)
|
Re: dream team
since its after nationals and seeing all the 'bots who would u say is the best possible team this year? I perrsonally say 233, 217 and 25 would be the ultimate offense we wouldnt even have to play defense, well maybe some and i do warn you my picks were very biased :D
|
Re: dream team
45 - Tkats
1108 - Panther Robotics 269 - Us That would be my favorite team. If you were going based off skill alone, I would say 111 - Stang 1625 - Winnovation 365 - MOE |
Re: dream team
25-987-111
|
Re: dream team
2 shooters, 1 dumper....
in auton, the shooters go at it, the dumper defends (keeping other team from any points) periods 2/3 -- shooters shoot their hearts out, dumper collects balls off the field (saves them until last period, also takes away from what other team can use) last period -- shooters are defended, leaves dumper open, scores between 30-40 points. watch for 868 at IRI |
Re: dream team
How about 217, 296, 522 or 25, 968, 195? :)
|
Re: dream team
I would love to see 217, 111, and 1625 in a match at IRI on the same team because I think we would have a shot at getting the perfect autonomous mode of 100 points. If only the goals could hold 30 balls without any falling out. I think we would have a good shot at getting all 30 balls because at wisconsin 111 and us filled the goal with 20 balls and from what I've seen the thunderchickens are pretty much unstoppable in auto.
|
Re: dream team
my personal dream team would be...
177, 195 and 25. not only are the drive team members of 195 and 25 really good friends of mine, our three robots would work really well together. good defense/ramp scoring good defense/high capacity 1 pt dumper amazing shooting just being next to all of my really close friends would just be awesome, though... |
Re: dream team
312 - 118 - 461 Swerve Drive Madness!!! Just imagine playing defense against this team. :D It would be hopeless :D |

Re: dream team
We found our dream team at IRI with 71 and 910. First we beat 1504, 494, and 40. Then we incredibly beat out the best offensive alliance this year of 1114, 25, and 33 where all 3 robots shot accuratly in auto. And then we beat 217, 233, and 1272 who include one of the national champions and the returning champion of IRI and a crazy amazing defense bot. We had to play all 3 matches in QF's, SF's, and finals. I think we only won 1 match where the beast didnt make it on the ramp because they are so amazing and unstoppable when they got up there. And 910 foley freeze was the best defense out there.
|
Re: dream team
It has to be 217, 111, and 70, they played real well together . That wasn't a shot at them it just makes me laugh that two division 4 regional victories was only good enough for two points.

254, 968, and 25 or how about the Triplets on one alliance....hummm... that would be an interesting match
|
Re: dream team
254,968,25
|
Re: dream team
365, 84, 306
365- great shooter 84- fast dumper 306- defend both so they could score |
Re: dream team
So many alliances that could be formed, so many possibilties
Each different alliance could beat another, so, without being able to determine one clear cut winner, Ill post a few. 25, 254, 968 71, 25, 1114 469, 25, 254 469, 1114, 217 111, 217, 1114 25, 111, 469 254, 111, 968 71, 111, 254 (I'll take that alliance any year ;) ) etc etc etc |
