Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **
I am watching right now and i can say this is probably the best webcast so far. Good sound-picture snyc and a few good camera angles. Besides that there are a few good bots there ;)

Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **
I’m not so sure that the roller blades are all that safe
But the video quality is excellent, I don’t have sound (no speakers) but I am very happy with the video. [edit] OMG! They have the match number and what teams are playing up at the top of the screen. So helpful, now if the realtime scores could be put up :p Ask and I shall receive! wow this makes it one of the better webcasts now! [/edit] |

Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **
WOW! This is the best FIRST webcast I've seen, bar none. Love the quality and the ticker. Great gobs of kudos to whoever is responsible!
(watch my productivity tank...) Cool! They put trivia questions up between matches! |
Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **
Wow, nice webcast!
The team information and the ticker make it a lot easier to know what's going on. I wish every webcast was this awesome. Video quality isn't amazing, but it's pretty darn good. |

Also, there are the random questions and answers up there between matches and my favorite question was: Q: During the build season when do FIRST teams sleep? (paraphrase) A: Sleep, what’s sleep? We don't have time to sleep! And as we all know this is oh so true. |
Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **
Roombas! I love it! No more field reset guy with a vacuum cleaner at lunch - they got Roombas!
So how come it took how many years for this to happen? |

But, as for the Boston Regional, it probably doesn't hurt that one of the Judges, Helen Greiner, is one of the co-founders of iRobot who makes the Roomba, and now the Scooba. http://www.bostonfirst.org/greiner.html |

Thanks. After spending a year away from FIRST and relagated to only watching webcasts, it became apparent that its impossible for any viewer to know who's playing and who's winning. Any other ideas for an overlay? Send 'em in! p.s. We upped the bandwidth from 280 to 340 kbps so the video quality should have gotten better. KA-108  |

Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **
That last match with 233 and 213 was a good one. 132 pts! what a match!

At least the Top 8 scroll on the overlay. I'll increase it to Top 15... KA-108  |

the ranks online appear to be updating real time and seem to be correct http://www2.usfirst.org/2006comp/Eve.../rankings.html |
Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **
Trivia question...wrong answer. There was a question on the web cast that asked what games had mobile goals. They did not include Hexagon Havoc which did have a movable goal teams could put the goal around and if you were to tip the goal (allowed) then the scoring plane would extend to infinity regardless of field borders/etc.

Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **
Did anyone see match 43? 233 is looking tough! 116 points!
|
Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **
Yea, they are one fast unloader. And it seems those pneumatic tires make them unmovable. I'm impressed!
BTW, their average: 50, 90, 72, 132, 22, 116 = 80.33 |
Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **
Is anyone else unable to get the webcast to work? Windows Media Player is giving me a file not found error.
|
Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **

I spoke briefly with 1511's driver and apparently a fire alarm has pulled/set off. Everything is fine and people are now re-entering the Venue.

Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **
Holy crap... this was one awesome regional. That match with us and 233, wow!! They were going to pick us as their third alliance partner for the finals, but that didn't work out. Oh well, our alliance was great too!
The fire alarm was an inconvenience, and we were perpetually unable to navigate Boston streets in a bus... besides those two things, it was a simply amazing event for us! |
Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **
I knew Kamen said that! I thought I had misheard him. He actually did say: "Since your homework involves politicians, and there's nothing I wouldn't say about those terrible people to you if they weren't here, or that I wouldn't say if they are." You can hear (and see) it http://www.soap.circuitrunners.com/2..._elimround.wmv
Dean, if you want to get politicians to promote FIRST, maybe you shouldn't insult them! Of course, this doesn't mean I think any differently than him (many politicians are terrible). |
Re: ** BOSTON WEBCAST & Archive 2006 **
Great job with the webcast!
I noticed that the archive page does not have finals match 2 on it...does this video exist anywhere? We would love to have it. Thanks! Rob |
