ScoreFIRST1.72IRI - Feature List

And here's something else to look forward to...my current new feature list for the version of ScoreFIRST which will make its debut at IRI:
-Timer display with background logo for those events not using video switching
-Real-time scoring capabilities
-Activation of a "placeholder team" mode which allows, with a little work after alliances are generated(going through and manually "scoring" any matches with the placeholder team), any number of alliances to compete in the finals.
-A slightly changed alliance selection display, showing who plays against who in the first round of play.
-Notification on the match results display if a new high score has been reached.
-Multiple options for field controller use
-Real-time access to a Wireless LAN setup running a live-update information server(SSID: iri_net)
-Miscellaneous other operator-side enhancements(read: things you'll never see)

I'm sure there's something I've missed(I don't have the newest version of the code in front of me right now), so you'll just have to wait until next week to see everything! See you there!

[EDIT]Also, just an FYI...for those of you who were watching my work on the web information system, it has been taken offline until I arrive at IRI. With registration closed, I am starting to generate actual competition matches, and if the web system remained online at this time, it would allow unrestricted access to the match information.[/EDIT]

Not much, I know. But hey, I'm doing my part to keep this thread going.

Andy B.

I can agree to that! :D :D

Those are some obvious predictions...
But definately true! All will have fun!

Ricky Q. 10-07-2002 17:40

Are we going to have to have an invisible Wisconsin team?

:p

For the #1 seed, take your pick from the long list of hybrid bots (33, 45, 47, 65, 111, 173, or 269). It will come down to strategy, pairings, and a lot of good fortune.

The #1 pick will be:
71, 308, or 469

The winning alliance will a hybrid, and a strong 2 goal grabber, and either a fast 1-2 goal grabber or another hybrid.

The TechnoPig will be repeat hit.

One of the refs will misplace his flags.

Baker will be the toughest head ref ever and will DQ everyone. Ok, maybe that's a stretch, but under his guidance the refs will call 5 penalties and will DQ one alliance, minimum.

The Great Carnak I am not, I'm still waiting for his predictions.

Mike

Ummmmmmmmmm... Where is 93????

Car Nack Predicts

Car Nack Predicts

1. The IRI will again be great fun and a huge success.

2. The final match will be a tremendous pushing contest which will tear the carpet somewhere between the alliances and result in a pile of bunched up carpet under each of the robots. Because the lines of the zones will be moved the winner will have to be determined by the highest pile of carpet under the robot.

Since my name is on the line for the gym floor as long as we are not measuring piles of saw dust I am with Car Nack ;)

A couple of things about the IRI

1. If you can we would appreciate your teams using the concessions in the facility. The proceeds go in full to next years rookie team “Team Lawrence”. So the money you spend there is going to a good cause. The group that is working the concessions will be the team leaders for this new team so encourage them when you get a chance.

2. There will be shirts for sale at $6.00 per shirt. We are working on getting all the teams listed on the back of the shirt so you can brag to the fact that your team competed in one of the strongest pound for pound tournaments around. These are very nice shirts for $6.00

3. Due to some late sponsorships there may be few extra $’s left after the tournament is over so the three host teams have agreed to take the left over and offer a scholarship to a student on a team that attended the IRI this year. This is still in the planning stage and applications hopefully will be available at the competition. No word on the value amount yet.

4. You may want to bring a power strip and a small extension cord. You will have access to one outlet at your pit area.

5. Enjoy your stay here in Indy and I can’t wait till next Friday.

I can agree to that Car Nack...but what would our fine group of referees would think about number 2?

I plan on making 2 flags for each ref... and actually got the material for the flags during lunch today. With Car Nack's prediction in mind, I may have to make some more!

Also, maybe the refs (or a ref) will wear a hat so that when the run out of flags, the hat can be thrown, kinda like in football.

Andy B. ... have flag, will travel

Sounds good, but please don't have a giant outline Indiana anywhere on the shirt. I have an IRI shirt from 2000 and the front is a big, yellow Indiana. I'm kind of embarrased to wear it in IL :D

/me pulls out flag and throws it at Mike.

OK, then why don't you wear your "Illinois Robotics Invitational" shirt instead? Oh, yeah... you can't do that, 'cause there ISN'T one!

I think that you're just jealous of the fact that the Hoosier state is much more technologically advanced than the Land of Lincoln.

:D

Andy,

I wear my IRI shirt all the time, and I think the picture of Indiana should be bright orange so that it can be more easily seen from the air.

Kevin,

That may simply be one of the funniest quotes I've seen on here since the "I'll eat my hat" quote from Dr. Joe a few years ago.

"May the Torque be with you"

Andy B.
