IRI Quilt 2006 - T-shirts needed!
 

This could also be in the Off Season Thread - but I think it will get more visibility here.

Last year a friend of Cyber Blue made a quilt from team shirts from the 2004 IRI. We auctioned it during the 2005 IRI as part of a fund-raising effort for the Methodist Hospital Child Life Center.

We are having the charity auction again at the 2006 IRI, and our friend has agreed to make another quilt <save your money, David and Amanda (or John, whatever!)>. Last year, the quilt went for about $500!

So, we need team shirts! Even if you will not be at the IRI and want your team shirt included, we would love to have it. This is an awesome way to help the IRI help a group of children in the hospital for extended care. The money is used to buy games, toys and other items for an activity room. Last year the money helped with a new TV and DVD player.

We need shirts within the next few weeks, so please send them to:

OK folks, so far this is going to be a really, really, really, really small quilt.
Like, maybe a quilt for a kitten, or a mouse, or a small bird, maybe.

So far, the shirt count = 0.

I don't think you are trying....

.... remember, this is for a charity auction at the IRI and all the money goes
to kids....

(excuse me while I go and warn my mailman to expect heavy loads of packages in the next few days.....)

I think team 314 might be attending we got an invitation, and were thrilled to compete in another off season. Nevertheless, I will try to send one of our shirts. But things that we need to know is where to send the shirts to. And if i can can someone PM me infor about IRI ie. cost, dates, location :D

Chris- Do they have to all be 2006 team shirts? Or can we send along shirts from prior years as well? (at last count, I had 79 team shirts in my closet that have accumulated over the last 11 years - not including the Hawaiian shirts)

I'll look around our stockpiles for shirts, which I know we have 2 types available for sure. Does the size matter? I'm not sure if our team is going to IRI this year so that is something i'm waiting for info on.

Working on getting a spiffy MARS shirt up there! I hope large is big enough... we ran out of larger sizes :ahh:

Any year of shirt is great - the main goal is to capture lots of team names and numbers.

If you have one that has the team name and number both on the same side that is best - it becomes one quilt block.


(now we are in trouble, Chief Delphi is turning into a sewing forum.....)

A 1675 UPS shirt will be on its way on Monday, along with a shirt from the "Who's Got the Uber Tuber" VEX competition this past fall (they are neat shirts, but since its not a team shirt, if you choose not to put it in the quilt, feel free to include it in the auction as a stand alone item).

No Dave, this is not an alternative to actually doing your dirty laundry ;)

Chris, did you get a 1712 yet? We are on spring break this week and our last few shirts currently reside with another one of our teachers. I sent her a message, but I'm not sure if she got to it yet. If you don't have it now, you'll have it next week.

Plus a Lavery "My other car is on Mars" shirt.

This quilt will be out of this world....
