What are your Chants and cheers for robotics competitions?
For team 174...we have a number of simple ones...


Shouting 1-7-4 and rapidly increaseing in speed

One person says "Arctic" others answer with "Warriors"

If we lose a match and we expected it, we call out "We'll be back!"

SnooooooooooooooBOT!

After the trumpet call to start a match, we shout "SNOWBALL FIGHT!" That was big this year and many aliance teams joined us when we called it. Expecially 272 when we were in the finals.


We didn't use it yet, but we have a long chant that goes like this. We took the tune from a song in the show Lazy Town:

Big Chill is bringing the blizzard out
And we say go go! *clap clap stomp* Sing it together!
174's gonna scream and shout.

well when I was on 1296 my favorite was

"lets go schrembo" *clap* *clap**clap clap clap*


. . . . I also liked saying "12 - 9 - 6 represent"


and there was a point when our auto code was go really really fast forward . . so we all yelled "Ludicrous speed. go!" at the beginning of the match


as for what 1745 will be shouting this year . . no idea. "17-45 in the hizzy" just doesnt work . . Air Raid doesnt really rhyme with any thing. so far all we have is dancing like idiots to the music.

We usually do the "five-eighty-nine"!!! but lately it has been "defense! defense! defense!" or "offense! offense! offense!"
It matches this game, maybe even next year :D you never know

we're not original..yet anyway..during pittsburgh there was 1038 1038 1038 1038..and we'd put, for example, 888 888 and even 888 and 1038, then for moe we'd go let's go more let's go..stomp stomp. yeh..unoriginal of course. at BMR, whenever they played the hey song instead of yelling HEY, we yelled HAWKS...HAWKS. we also did THUNDER..stomp stomp..THUNDER. we also had a lot of yelling of who dey and who rah at each regional.

And if team 188 is around...
Us: "One eighty-eight! We think you're great!"

And we basically spend all of our time in the stands coming up with new ones haha, but those are ones we do quite often. We also do the standard team-number cheering for ourselves and other teams. Haha wow.. I can't wait to do all of this cheering again this week in Mississauga!

We don't really chant, we just yell. However, at VCU during the elims we chanted "5-5-5" or "555 deal" since our alliance was 510 587 540, hence we stole the name of the Dominoes deal.

we didnt have one but it was yelling DEFENSE everytime our auto worked this past weekend in eliminations for the whole match, when auto worked, things were good.

Here's one that's dated back to 2002 and possibly before then.

Our team used to have a pair of enormous 2 1/2 inch wrenches and the whole team would break out repeating "Wrench" gradually getting faster until the wrenches were then struck together.

The student with the 2 1/2 inch wrenches graduated and now we have enormous adjustable wrenches.

Oh yea...I hear that.

We did a whole bunch of stuff that made no sence at all.

Person - "Chuck!"
Crowd - "Norris!"

Person - "Senseless!"
Crowd - "Noice!"

We'd shout "Tacos!" a lot too.

One of our team member's, his last name is Hoag...so one chant was..
HEY..HOAG! HEY...HOAG!

Our team doesn't really have a chant, but we all do the "penguin dance" whenever the Penguinbot does something cool or if we're on the big screen.

Sometimes we chant the drive team members' names... often it's my name b/c I guess waving your hands trying to get the team fired up means scream... "BUUUUUDDA! BUUUUDDA!"

"1-2-3-4-5 648 don't take no jive... 6-7-8-9-10 back it up let's do it again!"

Remember the Titans knockoff:

*sidenote* It was exilerating hearing us and team 107 cheering when we were in the quarterfinals at MWR together. It was deafening loud.

With Purdue mentoring 3 teams at the BMR, there was quite a bit of "Boiler Up!" I had to remind myself I wasn't a stupurduedent anymore and not to chant along.
I still like ours - our robot's name is Lucky - funny story but that's for another post - we'd shout
"Get Lucky!"
"On your team!"
during the alliance pickings.
Unfortunately, with only 11 students and one mentor we got drowned out.

We have the ever traditional, let's go red/blue team, then someone bangs on a water jug (which we blatantly stoll from team 88, the idea, not the jug, thanks guys). We also did "Do it up Ashley" for our human player last year (she was very popular with our drivers until we redid the arm, then she got to do almost nothing in atlanta) This year we usually yell at Kristine, although there is no chant. When we cheer for someone on the drive team, it's almost always the girl. You'll probably never here let's go Nick/Martin/Gary/H. Probably because the people starting the cheers are two girls who've had way too much redbull. :) :)

Heh, this thread reminds me of last year at nationals, when we were at the GM teams meeting, and a "We got spirit how about you" chant got going around. It went from team to team five or six times, then one of them made the mistake to point to our team. Dead silence. Then laughter.

Our team is kind of odd! I'm not really sure where these got started, but here are our favorite things to yell at events:

Yes, that is a good one for them. They didn't win Spirit award at Buckeye cause Team Spirit to the judges ment more of helping give aid to another country rather than haveing a spirited team.

When Team 1006's robot Fast Eddie IV is on the field, we always chant "Eddie, Eddie Eddie!" It was awesome during the finals in Arizona, we had almost the whole stadium chanting EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE!

Also, when we won the Spirit Award in AZ, during the award description, the crowd started to slowly chant EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE! It was awesome!

PS A bit of history on the Eddie chant.......one of our sponsors is Fast Eddie Racewear, and we decided to name our robot after them in our first year, and it just stuck ever since! Now at the regionals, everyone knows who FAST EDDIE is!

Watch out for Fast Eddie IV this weekend at the GTR and in ATLANTA!!!

Now that we know some chants of other teams, when you are out in the nats or at the final regionals...just start chanting some of these chants from teams that arn't at the regional, or arn't in your division. Let me tell you you get the biggest looks of confusion and the biggest smiles.

We got half the crowd to shout AIM HIGH. The rest had built a dumping robot.

We also tried to get everyone to do the Peanut Butter Jelly Time...but no luck three

Unimaginative here I'm afraid... most of my chanting over the NYC Regional weekend consisted of shouting our team number 759 or simply cheering on a mention or sight of them. On Saturday afternoon, I also chanted for our alliance partners 421 and 694 as well as joining in chants of "blue alliance!" or "red alliance!" depending on which side we were on.

It would be so awsome, if when everyone is getting ready for the first Final match at Einstin, we get everyone to start cheering that.

I would so run around and get teams to do that, but I can't go to nats. So I'm asking all of you that we try it.

When it's my turn to be the field mentor and we're ahead in a match, I sometimes yell at the drivers like a drill sergent and call them maggots. They know I'm not serious when I act like that so they usually get a kick out of it. :D

Also, our team's theme song is now "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister, so we sing the chorus line to that alot.

The cheerleaders at my school came up with a really horrible one a few years ago. I find it darkly humorous:

Hahaha. I like these cheers! YAY for team spirit! Team 433 has an "Ogya Chant" that the Ghanians mainly came up with, if you were at Drexel, then you heard us right after we got EI...we also do a lot of random cheers, whatever fits our mood! :D
