Replicating parts of drawings

What I'm trying to do with the sketch below is to continue on to make 30 of those rectangles in an exact row. I've tried using copy/paste but I can't get it to paste where I want it, it'll show up just offset overlaying the original. When I drag it around, it won't snap to the grid unlike if I were to draw it from scratch. I've already done a differnet part drawing the rectangles one by one but I'd like to know if there's a better way and how. If you need me to be more descriptive, lemmie know. Thanks in advance for any help. :D

What I'm trying to do - Continue the rectangles along this way in a perfect row.

In solidworks, I would use the mirror option, or the linear patern. I do not know if this is helpful

Use the "rectangular pattern" button that is available in sketch mode for Inventor.

Ok, I got it to replicate with the pattern tool, but have a new problem - It's replicating up and down, whereas I want it to go to the right. I can't seem to figure out how to rotate it in the tool. Would I have to hit ok, then rotate the whole thing after?

EDIT * Nevermind, I got it. Thanks for the tip. =)

What are you drawing? It looks like a vex part. :)

Re: Replicating parts of drawings

After extensive searching the ONLY parts I could find from VEX were the threaded rods, and those were on fcl. So I'm going to be putting ALL my vex parts into inventor 10 and probably going to put them on my server when they're done. I'm in the middle of building my own robot for the '05 game, scaled down, because I want to try a design I came up with but was never used by our team last year. Instead of just diving in and building, I want to build it in inventor first... Sort of like my own, non time-limited build season.

Try www.vexcad.com, they have downloadable parts.

Why did you draw 2 of them? You only need to draw one most of the time and then perform some sort of Linear Pattern option.

BMartin, thank you very much, I hadn't seen that before. It's not ALL the parts but it will certainly save me a lot of time! :)

And Elgin - I had started to draw them the hard way when I posted here.

When doing a linear pattern, use rectangular pattern. Select the top horizontal line as your direction, (for direction 1), then select your interval and number of items.

Yea rectangular pattern is pretty useful. You can even send the items at an angle, pending on the line that you choose as a reference. Besides doing it in the drawing though, you can also rectangular pattern the features and even the parts in asseblies. Keep in mind that the circular pattern tool exists too:)!
