We did a Women of FIRST photo at St. Louis this year. You can see it here by scrolling to the bottom of page 3.

A couple of the women on 931 helped promote a similar photo when we were at Waterloo two weeks later. Hopefully someone can provide a link to that photo and the one taken the following week at GTR.

first off I'd like to say that I am glad the number of females in first is growing, however in reference to taking pictures of Women of FIRST, I was a bit put off. Now don't get me wrong I am not sexist, its just I don't think taking pictures solely of the females is right. I would be all in favour of a picture of the Woman of FIRST if they did it also for the men, or for another sect, as long as it wasn't an exclusive thing. Now I don't think this just because I am a man, as there were some girls who thought it as well whom I have talked to. I think taking a picture of just the girls makes just as much sence as say taking a picture of just the programmers, the men, drive teams, or any other sect of FIRST... Those are just my views on it, just thought I'd throw them out as constructive critisism. I'd like to say congrads to all that are in FIRST, as it is a life changing experiance for us all, and yes it would be nice to even out the ratio of guys to girls.

It's quite funny because our team actually has quite a lot of females. We also have a lot of female officers. GO GIRLS OF TEAM 812!

Maybe we should stop taking Women of FIRST photos when there are too many women at an FRC event to fit them all on the field?

That is so awesome!(the picture) I think that there should be something like that at Championships! Or at least in the different divisions.

And yes, thank you ThomasH for making this thread. I think I speak for a lot of females in FIRST, it means a lot to us that guys recognize that we aren't just there that we are females and we are trying to do work as well. I have been inspired by females mentors, from other teams as well as our only female mentor this year and last. It is such an awesome thing, participating in FIRST, and being able to machine things during build season and being on the 'top list' of people who are allowed to work on the robot. I don't mean to sound all feminist or anything but, I'm glad that there are guys out there who realize that females are becoming a bigger part of FIRST and that we do sometimes know what to do. And I only hope that guys aren't intimidated by females in robotics. Especially when we work on the robot. lol
