Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
It was recently brought to my attention that most people refer to Chief Delphi in a different way than I do, by its noun form rather than its "adjective" form, persay.
So how do you refer to Chief Delphi when you mention it in Conversation, or on IM? |
Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
I mostly mention it as CD in conversation, but our team as a whole has a tendency to refer to it as 'delphi.'

Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
When talking to people who post on CD, I call it CD, but when talking to people who are on a robotics team but don't post, I call it Chief Delphi, and when talking to people who are not involved in robotics I call it "Chief Delphi, this wonderful robotics forum where people from teams from all over the place post on every topic regarding robotics imaginable and quite a few topics not imaginable." It's a long title, but easy to memorize if you talk about robotics as much as I do... Has anyone else figured out a way to slip robotics into any conversation possible? Salespeople, nurse, dentist, pizza delivery guy... they all hear about it... It's gotten to the point where telemarketers will no longer call me, I have to call them... poor telemarketers...

Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
I used to call it ChiefDelphi, but lately I've just been calling it Delphi. (Well, unless I get a funny, what-the-heck-is-he-talking-about look.)
|
Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
I generally call it CD, but my team refers to me as the "Delphimaster" so I call it Delphi when giving them updates from what I've read.

Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
I call it CD yet I am very surprised some people call it Chief.
|
Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
I use CD, but most of the team says that I am addicted to Chiefdelphi and refer to it as my home, so when talking to teammates, sometimes I end up using "home" as a reference.

Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
A few others and I who post on CD always talk about it and call it "The Chief." Pretty much everyone knows what it means by now.
|
Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
I always call it Chief - everyone around here knows that's what it is :)
However my friends get confused so I have to stop myself and go, "umm chief delphi... you know that nerd robotics hangout online thing that I always talk about?" |
Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
I'd call it CD but that makes me think Compact Disc, thus I stick to Chief Delphi
|
Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
I refer to Chief Delphi by it's full name, mainly because it sounds better to me than any sort of abbreviation.

Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
I wish this poll was a multiple choice one, because I use CD, Chief Delphi, and delphi all the time. Although some of the students on my team get confused when I say CD because they are thinking of a compact disc, and when they call it CD I get confused becuase I am suprised they called it CD because they don't come on often enough.

Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
Usually I just use peoples names on here as though I were talking about a friend. Whenever I talk about Chiefdelphi, I'm talking to Andrew Blair, or Kyle A, or Bemis. They know who I'm talking about when I say
"Yeah, Andy Baker was absolutely correct when he said this" or "Eugenia brought up a valid point today" So I don't really need to say "on Chief Delphi". |
Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
I call it Chief Delphi because all the others are wrong. ;)
|
Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
Chief Delphi, usually. Unless I'm talking to a fellow FIRSTer on AIM ... then it's usually CD. :)
|
Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
In convo example: "Oh yeah, there was a thread on Delphi about that"
In email example: "CD had an interesting post about... <link>" |
Re: Refer to Chief Delphi, How?
When I'm talking to someone who knows about CD electronically (email/IM/posting) I usually refer to it as CD. Otherwise, I call it Chief Delphi.
