Hey!

I'm surprised that there was no mention of having a College Night in Atlanta this year. I have an idea... how about Thursday night @ 7pm all us CD addict college kids meet at the Hard Rock Cafe? Let me know if you're in by emailing me at Nomads2009@aol.com or post in this thread.

typically we always have sugested a resturant but unfortunatly because of the number of teams it has always proven to be impossible to get reservations without putting a deposit down. A good solution we have done in the past couple years is picked a night (like thursday or friday) and met in the food court of the cnn center. That way we can have as many people as we want, age isn't an issue, and when we get loud people don't get upset.

I agree, I just thought that the Hard Rock Cafe was more of a bar/club than a resturaunt (yea, I don't know what I'm talking about :p ).

Yes, if you get lost, on the RIGHT of that intersection is Hooters, and right behind where that photographer is standing is one of the many entrances of the Westin Peachtree Plaza (and that's not easy to miss, cause it's shaped like a huge cylinder).

I would tend to go with Greg's suggestion being part of College night in 2004.

A) You will not be able to get an accurate count of people in time for the thing to take place cause people will add/drop all month long right up until you go.
B) The CNN Food court is way large enough to hold a bunch of people together, or a small group.
C) Food in that place is cheap (Fast food like Chik-Fil-A) compared to the HRC, and other places.
D) College students need cheap food, so see "C". lol
E) It closes late, and when you get kicked out, you can just hang in the lobby of the Omni, as long as you are relatively quiet (as we did in 2004).
F) It's close to the venue, and really easy to find.

If this is going on, I'm sure I'll drop in since I'm staying at the Omni.

This makes me sad that I'm not going to the Championship. I get to miss all this fun. Next year I will go, with or without my team! I could go now but... I don't feel like taking another week off of working at McDonalds... blickakhdgakldgakjgd!!

Yea! I'd be interested in attending. Should we tack-on some activities after dinner? Like pool party in the Omni or Kareoke?

I'm volunteering as a Robot Inspector, so I'm not sure if I'll be out until after 8pm. In addition, Hard Rock Cafe was really fun two years ago and I highly recommend it. It had an overall better feel than meeting in a food court.

Hmmm... maybe we could make an 8:30 reservation for 15ish people at Hard Rock?

I am a college FIRSTer and I am volunteering at the championship. I don't get out of there till about 8 p.m. thursday night. I am sure that there are other college mentors who would be busy till 8 p.m. on thursday night with their own team (Pits are open till 8). I think (if possible) the time should be changed to 8:30 p.m. But if you guys can't change it, it's cool and I totally understand.

Hey guys I'm a mentor and college student for team 379 the Robocats. I really want to attend but we just got into Nationals on April 13th and we were unable to secure reservations for a close hotel. Since we are stayng pretty far away I won't be able to attend. I would really like to meet with some of you and talk with you guys but I can't go to college night. I was wondering if a few of you wanted to meet up during lunch one of those days for the people that want to attend but are unable to go that night. I mentioned it to Freddy Schurr and I have gotten no response from him. I'm not sure if he's just too busy or not interested. I think it would be a great idea for people like myself and others that can't attend to still be able to interact with the other college mentors in FIRST. If anyone is interested please let me know via PM, post a message or e-mail at PJRoman2004@aol.com. I would really like to interact with more college FIRSTers. Thanks ~Priscilla~

I am sorry for not responding back, I have been busy. However, I believe that a lot of college mentors will be busy during lunch time with their own teams.

Regarding college night, I don't know what to do. If someone is willing to book a reservation at Hard Rock Cafe for Thurs Night at 8:15 for 15 people, then do so. I think that it is a good idea.

We could all meet at the Georgia Dome and walk together as ONE!

I have been told numerous times that I am indeed "interesting." I'm in. I'll need a phone call reminder though the day of so it doesn't slip my mind. Hardrock or CNN, I'm happy with either.

Go ahead and make the reservation at Hard Rock. Not everyone reads these forums, but as we bump into people during Champs, I'm sure we'll fill those 15 seats. Lets get the word out that this is where the fun happens!

They might have already taken too many reservations from teams because I know in the past 108 has had a reservation there. We might be able to try and call around an hour before, that way we can knock out some of the wait time while still at the competition. If you want Freddy, just come by the 108 pit some time Thurs and we can try and figure something out.

Yea, keep trying for a reservation at Hard Rock (call, call, call!). Maybe increase it to 20? (I'd book space for 5 more people than RSVP, just in case). If Hard Rock is booked lets move it to another restaurant. Maybe that SeaFood place in the Omni, but I'm sure there are plenty of restaurants around.

There are a lot of restaurants around, look online or call a hotel for ideas. There might be an Atlanta onlne city guide... or ask around the forums.

Woah! I just got a little creeped out... this college night list is so different from the one two years ago! Time flew! what happened? Did everyone got old?

However, I guess I should expect it, I am entering my fifth year of college next year :rolleyes:.

I guess it all comes with growing up with FIRST.

CNN Foodcourt is your best bet for a huge group, which this is turning into. People can come and go as they please, and you aren't locked into one specific food..

You can get just a drink at the fastfood walk up type places, or go to Jocks and Jills and have a more formal dinner if you want.

FYI Hooters is not in the Omni.. The food court is adjacent to the Omni.

Jocks and Jills is the sit down restaurant in the Food Court.

HOOTERS and HARD ROCK CAFE are right across the street from the Westin, and right next to each other.

I don't care on where we go, but would like it solid before I leave for Atlanta tomorrow night... And I definitely want to hear where and when we are meeting to walk there solid as well. As of now it is still where the webhug is at 8:15? Correct me if I'm wrong.


Again, I'll go no matter where the restaurant is, but I respectfully vote against hooters. I'm going as a mentor to my team, what impression would that give?

How did it go? I was busy watching the students Thurs Night, so I could not attend, I apologize for the inconvenience.

I heard from some that it was boring.

I'm not entirely sure I ended up with the same group as the college night people... But I went to the CNN center and ended up at a table with Mike Walker, Sara, Billfred, The Lucas, Dan Swando, Alex Comier...and remind me if I left anyone out. A FIRST rep named Walt joined us, it was fun to meet him. I had a blast and didn't leave the CNN center for hours.
