CD photo shop #1

Okay, I was just playing Image Wars when it occurred to me that we should have a CD Photoshop contest. So here goes. On someday (to be decided if this is popular) I'll post an image. Then there is a period of one-two weeks (I haven't decided yet) where you can make your modifications to the image. There are a couple of rules on what the pics can contain.
1)Nothing explicit
2)Nothing overly violent
3)Must somehow pertain to FIRST or ChiefDelphi in a manner that can be figured out with relative ease
4)Even if it hasn't been listed specifically, remember if you think it might possibly be violating the rules or inappropriate, ask prior to posting it. (If you choose that entry method.
5)The image must be between 450 x 450 and 1024 x 1024
6)The entry must contain a major element from the posted image
7)There are two options for entering. Either posting it to this thread, or e-mailing it to me at lukevanoort.587@gmail.com. (The e-mail method is preferred, I'll accept .jpg, .gif, .png, no .psd)
8)You can use any program (even MSPAINT), entries will not necessarily be judged on quality of edits, most of the judging will be on humor/inspirational value/whatever the image represents most.

The image is this found here.
This time entries are due by the Saturday after next.

I would like to suggest that if someone's photo is going to be used, they be contacted first to see if it's OK with them. It's a GP, courtesy thing.

Good idea. If anyone thinks their photo will be used often they can state their permission or you can ask them specifically.

A quick change. Dave doesn't like that picture for some reason and requested this one instead.

Okay guys, here's my quick entry:

Dave and Tytus playing Beach Donut Toss

I think they may have had a bit too much sun...

On a related note, could the next picture not include Dave? He may begin to think that I'm being mentored by Heidi

Basically... here's the logic behind the madness...
Tytus is/was on 179 Swamp thing, which is very...green.
Now take the Eiffel 65 Song and mix them together with some info that I got from someone at regionals (they said people used to chant that out)and ... WHAM Photoshop!

Where was that pic taken? Hartford and Atlanta look SO similar, I went to Hartford for the first time this year, it was mind boggling how similar they both looked.

Don't worry, it won't. Using Dave Lavery for the first one was a strategy to get more people to enter since everyone loves photoshops of Dave...
I've also finally made up my mind about future contest timing. This contest's entries are still due on the Saturday coming up, but I decided to make the time a little more exact, they are due at noon Eastern. After this contest, future ones will move to a Wednesday-Wednesday one week schedule so that people get a full weekend for squeezing in the time to produce the photoshop as well as several weekdays to let ideas mull around in their heads.

EDIT: This contest's entries are NOT due Saturday, they are due this Wednesday by noon eastern as my later post indicates.

Re: CD photo shop #1

Could we consider not having such a long period of time for the contest? I think most people forgot about it that's why it took so long to get some entires, but all you really need is a week. And besides...once you enter..it looses fun. haha.

Still a great idea.

Re: CD photo shop #1

Okay, to get this to its soon to be regular schedule, I'm ending the time for entries at noon Eastern on Wednesday this week. Sorry, if you planned on doing an entry Saturday morning or during the week, but I decided that it'd be better to get it on schedule now, and, as Michelle pointed out, two weeks is rather long.

They're likely using either Photoshop or the GIMP. But you could use any image editor. (including Microsoft Paint or whatever is bundled with macs) I'd recommend that you get the GIMP since Photoshop is like $700 and the GIMP is free. Just google it and look for a Windows binary. If you're using Mac OS you should look for one specifically for Macs. Irfanview is another great free tool. Google also has a tool called Picasa, but I don't know anything about it.

EDIT: At some point I may put together a package of good, free software to help people in SamS0Fa33O's position. pM me if you have suggestions on what to include.

I used Paintshop Pro 9 , which Paintshop Pro 10 is available for download via free 30 trial, and I think about $80 to purchase afterwords. But there are some free programs out there that do, do a good job. I used to do all my photo editing in paint, so it can be done.

Photoshop for me, you can get a 30 day free trial for that too.

who is the real Dave? Its so hard to tell - he changes so quickly, from one second to another....

PS: I like the custom shirt Dave is wearing in the first photo. Is that designed esp for thanksgiving?

OK, so those are some of the most disturbing images that I have seen in quite a while.

But it gives me ideas...

I can't believe I had decided not to enter this contest because I felt bad for Dave being picked on so much...

Well, you can count this as an entry or not, it's really just a taste of what's to come in May when I have a week off between Spring and Summer sessions and not a single thing to do other than play:

Heidi

p.s. so, should I do another "Super Dave" or how about another "Robot Horror Picture Show" installment? Other suggestions?

Historians now believe the thread started as a simple photoshop contest

but then rapidly spun out of control!

I know you guys are into your inner uglies right now but have you ever done a Where's Waldo kind of thing only with the robots -or is that just too cheesy? Or better question, does it ever get too cheesy?

This is my 2006 CD Photoshop contest entry.

I know what you're thinking, what possessed me to create this? :ahh:
I was watching ESPN OTL Nightly while browsing the forums. I saw a segment about Jerry Rice on "Dancing with the Stars" after retirement. I looked at the contest picture for the first time and thought "Segway Tango!" (I need to sleep more :D ) I filled in the speech bubbles the next day. I’ve never seen an episode of "Dancing with the Stars", but this is what I imagine that they would say. One speech bubble I decided not to use (space issue) was Tytus saying:
"Wait till you see the Cha Cha Slide next week"

If you are curious, here is the original image.

Re: CD photo shop #1

Okay the scoring goes like this, the winner gets 4 pts and can put this in your sig as well as the reigning champ being able to put this in , 2nd place gets 3pts , 3rd gets two and if you entered a picture using the given photo (even if it is too small/big) you get 1pt. After a few contest go by, I'll have another pic for the points leader. So, without further ado, the winners
1st place goes to Aaron D. with this great entry.

2nd goes to T. Hoffman with this hilarious entry

and 3rd goes to The Lucas with this awesome entry

So the scores are
Code:

Aaron D. 4
T. Hoffman 3
The Lucas 2
Adam Richards 1
Fruity Pebbles 1
KINGOFCLUBS454 1
looneylin 1
rvssnake 1
Andre Blair 1
InfernoX14 1
dlavery 1
KenWittlief 1
MissInformation 1
Cody C. 1
Ryan Dognaux 1

Thanks for playing, the next competition should be up in a couple of minutes.
