Cart Party!

That's right, cart party! (robot cart that is)

All teams with a sound system on their cart are invited to bring their cart to the area between the Georgia Dome and Georgia World Congress Center on Friday after the competition for music based fun! I will be bringing my iPod with FM transmitter to supply the tunes. This way, everyones cart will be perfectly synced, creating the most awesome surround-sound stereo ever! :yikes: If there are any songs you would like me to play, PM me with the title and artist. I haven't run this by the rest of 1549 yet, so our cart may not be there.
Of course, anyone who just wants to come and enjoy the music is welcome too!

Hope to see you then!

assuming your cart has a radio on it of course.

I have made like 4 carts with stereos, none of which had a radio.

Most stereos have an attachment for a radio antenna, and since the source of the signal will be less than 50 feet away, I don't think that not having an antenna will be a problem.
I am assuming that the car stereos people put in their carts have a built-in radio, just no antenna.

u need an antenna on a head unit if you want to pick up any signal

Do radios come with head units? If they do, you would just need to hook up a small antenna, since the source won't be very far away.

a car stereo is usually referred to as a head unit. in order to pickup any radio signals you will have to hook up some sort of antenna to the head unit. another thing to take into consideration is the fact that those iPod FM transmitters weren't designed to broadcast very far. you might have a bit of a garbled signal between the iPod and the receiving head units.

I have actually had success with the transmitter being about 20 feet behind my dad's old escort wagon.

BTW, attached is a list of songs I will be putting on the playlist for this event (if it works/happens). Any sugestions are welcome.

Ok, update time.
I told our coach about my idea and she thought it sounded cool, so our cart might be there. I also e-mailed our resident radio expert, and I will edit this post with whether or not he thinks it will work as soon as I hear back from him. Any more playlist requests need to be made before April 26, because that's when 1549 leaves for ATL. Hope to see you there.

EDIT: Ok, a couple of things have come up. First, our "resident radio expert"'s e-mail appears to be invalid.
Second, I do not have the track "who let the dogs out"; I was planning to pick it up at Best buy, but it seems they don't have it. If someone who does have it would attach it to an e-mail and send it to me at dylan.stoll@gmail.com it would be greatly appreciated.

Somewhere i have a 500mw FM transmitter i built out of a kit. If yall are interested i can bring it to let whoever is coordinating this use. It has MUCH better range than one of those ipod FM things.

That sounds cool. What does it use to connect to the recording it broadcasts?
And I am coordinating this event (or at least trying to  )

I'll have to run it by our coach to see if its ok, so if it is, count 1251 in, the monster cart wants to get a workout.

See i was smart when i made the radio for my teams cart. I took a small broken guitar amplifier, pulled the header out of it, and replaced the header with a car radio, and a 40 watt booster. I don't know if were bringing it to Atlanta though, I'll have to see if i can take it as a carry on.

Saw your cart pic and WOW , I hope you can come. Too bad 548 won't be there, their cart was sweet! :D

BTW, I noticed you guys are from Florida, you wouldn't happen to have any spare coconuts from Team 1341, would you? Here's the my CD Swap listing for them. http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pa...l&itemid=10282

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but you may want to take note of section 7.7.6 of the manual, which states, "Please do not add music to your cart." I think this rule is new for this year. It's a bit disappointing to me, too, because I really liked having music on our cart to keep us upbeat on the loooong walk to the Dome last year.

Manual - Section 7 (PDF warning)
