M.A.V.E.R.I.C.K vs N.E.R.D

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a challenge for a dodge ball tournament against these two organizations, however I felt that it would get out of hand and everyone would be out of control.

So I decided lets do a Frisbee contest to determine who is the better FIRST community-based organization.

Details:

M.A.V.E.R.I.C.K vs N.E.R.D Ultimate Frisbee Championship

Thursday, April 27, 2006 6:00-7:30

Location to TBA

M.A.V.E.R.I.C.Ks and N.E.R.Ds can play

I have decided to make a Championship trophy for whichever organization wins. Are you in?

MAVERICK and NERD are two organizations which exist to promote and unite FIRST teams in their specific regions: MAVERICK is the organization for Mid-Atlantic teams, and NERD is the organization for New England teams.

If you are curious...
MAVERICK website: http://conor.ryan.googlepages.com/maverick
NERD website (some parts still under construction): http://shsrobotics.org/nerd/

As for the game... sounds like a great idea. However, I am absolutely abysmal at ultimate frisbee (and most other sports for that matter), although I'm sure it would be fun. Please tell me there are some other NERDs out there who are at least semi-coordinated? When I play sports, somehow people always end up accidentally injured...

Maybe I can serve as the NERD cheerleader. :o

We could but I would FIRST like to get a match between these two organizations and sees who is really competitive.

Come on MAVERICKS AND NERDS, lets go!

I personally do not feel that a competition between the organizations is necessarily the best thing to do. After the mess that was created in the thread introducing M.A.V.E.R.I.C.K. I really feel that the organizations shouldn't be competing against one another, but I will let the head Nerd Andy Grady decide on the matter.

Honestly...I think that having something that is light hearted and fun spirited is exactly what the NERDS and MAVERICKS need. Bringing things together would be a positive...

My only issue is that with my duties at championships, I'm not sure I'd personally be able to make it. Though I do encourage the rest of the NERDS to get involved...have fun...and make friends with some of the MAVERICKS.

I as well for one will not be able to attend due to previous obligations (aka scouting, practicing, and award prep). But again, any Maverick that would want to play, go for it, this would be a fun thing to do.

Since I suck at Frisbee I shall also cheer. But for the mavericks.

Re: M.A.V.E.R.I.C.K vs N.E.R.D.

This would probably be a really fun game, but I don't think I would be able to attend either because of all the other oblegations I'll have there. (Operator/pit crew/etc.) Many of the NERDs are either FIRST volunteers or drivers/operators/coaches, so I don't know how many would actually be free, even at 6 PM. :(

If it was Wednesday night, I might be able to attend after I uncrate the robot.

You won't find me with a frisbee, but I could help cheer either team (n.e.r.d. by birth, MAVERICK growing up, n.e.r.d. once again).. BUT Vex runs until 6pm so I won't be finished for a while afterwards.

Re: M.A.V.E.R.I.C.K vs N.E.R.D

That was a propose time, it can be change to whenever. I want all the Mavericks and Nerds to play. Also, I believe that it wouldn't cause any problems, it would be a nice and friendly game of ultimate Frisbee, a chance to have some fun.

If you propose some times for when everyone can play, I can change it!

I would love to play frisbee but I am with Andy on probably being busy during that time.

Again, whatever time is best, just let me know. I really would like to make this a reality.

I just wanna play some stinkin dodgeball!!!:(

Re: M.A.V.E.R.I.C.K vs N.E.R.D

We can't play dodgeball because it would get out of hand.

How about Friday, noon time! or show we do it after the competition is over.

Yeah, I am guessing that since everyone is busy, that this event will be a no-show. However it was great when the interest was there.

I would like to get pictures of both organizations together. Please PM.

I really wish I could be there for one of the games. Technically, if anything, I'd be a N.E.R.D. since I'm from NH, buuut...any chance I can play for ECDU? Give me a call or email if you guys decide to playon saturday or something, I won't be getting to Atlanta until about 800 on friday night.
