Re: Newton Discussion

Hey fellow Newton teams! Can't wait to see you all in a week!

If you get the chance can you answer the following questions:

1. Team name and number
2. Shooter/Dumper
3. How many balls can you approx. hold?
4. Ramp capabilities?
5. Effective autonomous Mode(s)?
6. Speed/Power/Maneuverability
7. Average scoring?
If shooter:
8. Shooter location
9. Camera/Manual
10. Post a picture of the robot if you can!

11. Are you a ground or human loader?

For example:

1. MORT Team 11
2. Shooter
3. 12 balls
4. Depends on ramp conditions
5. Yes, drives forward and shoots 10 balls in the 3-pt goal effectively
6. Average speed and power but not traction
7. Around 15-20 shots scored. Avg pts per match: 26
8. Top
9. Both
10. Posted below

11. We are a ground loader

Thanks so much teams! Good luck in ATLANTA.

1. CyberKnights Team 195
2. Dumper
3. 30+ easily
4. We can climb the ramp relatively easily
5. Yes. a) Drives forward and scores 10 in corner goal.
b) "Dynamic Defense"
6. Good speed and power
7. Depends on if we play more defensively or not. Can score a full load in under 10 sec.

Here is the picture I posted earlier.

Can reload from ground or human player.

Re: Newton Discussion

1. The Robocats Team 379
2. Dumper/defensive
3. 20-25
4. Easily
5. Effectively drives to side goal and dumps 10, If need to zoom across floor to block shooter or other dumper we will.
6. 2 spd. trans. w/ pneumatic shifter, custom built. High spd 13.5 ft/sec, Low 4.5 ft/sec. Very powerful, fast and reliable.
7.we are able to score from 40-50 ourselves. (10 auto + winning auto =20, Driving around picking up 20-25 balls usually 2 trips = 40-45, then on ramp for bonus 5 = 45-50. Our average scores usually 30-40.

Our Robot posted from the other page. good Luck everyone can't wait to see everyone down there

Re: Newton Discussion

First off, thanks for all the compliments to our bot this year on the forum, thats great.

1. Team name and number - 322
2. Shooter/Dumper - Dumper
3. How many balls can you approx. hold? - 50+
4. Ramp capabilities? 100% with ease
5. Effective autonomous Mode(s)? Dump 10 everytime from any three starting spots, If a shooter needs spot one or two, we have delay that let's the shooter move to go shoot, then we dump. We scored 10 pts in Auto all matchs last regional. Also shooter blocking modes
6. Speed/Power/Maneuverability - Most say it's the fastest and most mobile bot this year. 4 motor, 4 wheel drive allowed us to push bots around and dead bots onto the ramp
7. Average scoring? 10 pts. always in auto, 30+ dumping and 5 pts. for ramp
8. Shooter location - nota
9. Camera/Manual - nota
10. Post a picture of the robot if you can! - see www.fireteam.org

Other notables - #1 seed at Western Regional, 2006 Motorola Quality award, two weeks later 2006 GM industrial design winners.

-basically un-tippable
-spare part for every robot detail
-lowest center of gravity I've seen yet
-8 different auto modes, including defensive ones

Hopefully this helps, email with further questions.....thanks.

Do you think we could add a re-load part
11. Re-load Floor/HP/none?

might be helpful. If everyone just edits their posts it would save some length of this thread.

After I posted I thought of that question, but then just decided that you can pretty much figure that out from the picture of the team's robot, but if anyone would like to go back and add that...I won't argue!!!

Just in case anyone wants to know, Team 379 loads from the floor. We prefer to load from the floor but if there is a chance that there aren't any balls on the floor then we human load. We don't like to human load but like I said there were some matches where we had all the balls in our hopper and none on the floor so we had to human load. If anyone has any questions about our robot or our team you are all welcome to PM me or e-mail me at: PJRoman2004@aol.com

We're glad to provide answers to the scouting questions from MORT Team 11, but you may prefer to simply watch Team 1519's robot, "Sergeant York" in action: http://www.mechanicalmayhem.org/vide...Video-2006.mov

---
1. Mechanical Mayhem, Team 1519
2. Shooter
3. Hopper and belt train hold up to 20 balls
4. Ramp defender
5. Autonomous Mode -- watch the video... :)
6. Speed/Power/Maneuverability -- view the video to see us push...
7. Average scoring: In GSR elimination rounds, 7 balls in autonomous; rest of match varies depending upon how much defense we played

If shooter:
8. Shooter is at top of robot
9. Camera-controlled, with manual override available if needed
10. Videos at http://www.mechanicalmayhem.org/teamvideos.asp

11. Ground loader
