This was the first site that I've ever worked on. I put together a really simple site before in front page, and now have worked with some books and made a nicer website using CSS. Could you please go to our site and give me your opinion or some constructive criticism

I've seen the progression of this website over the past couple months. You've really come a long way. Looks good. The only thing I'd change is the FIRST logo to make it the new one.

Alright, changed the logo. When did the first site change that? I could have sworn like two weeks ago when I made the site I got that picture off there... maybe from the old site. I forget.

I would suggest changing the color of the links on the pages. Blue on top of red is hard to read.

The FIRST logo is now vertically squished out of proportion and is becoming aliased because of it. You are displaying the 136x118 image at 136x96. Just thought I'd let you know. :)

I would suggest a clean layout.. and make better the divisions... u can change the fonts colors and size... this little things make the website much better..
and here.. i'm using firefox at linux.. the first logo is off the div. lowerright..

The primary purpose of the website should be to tell others about your team. This includes people in the FIRST community as well as those outside of it. Concentrate on the content and its organization first. Some of the main aspects you can focus on are the robot and the different tasks your team performs.

To see what FIRST expects from you on a website, make sure you read section 9.7 of the FIRST Awards Document.

Also, your website claims to be the XHTML 1.0 Strict standards compliant by displaying the W3C compliancy logo but it's not. A useful website for learning about web technologies is W3 Schools. I have some other links listed on my team's website. Look under the "IT Links" section.

Emil: you make good observations and suggestions, "perhaps" especially about content, although I'm sure that will come. Websites are usallay a work in progress so with that I think you have a wonderful start, keep up the good work.

I like it, but I'd say try making the navigational links across the top a bit more obvious. I scrolled all the way down before I realized that the links were'nt there, but rather at the top.

Possibly make them a side menu or something.

Just to let you know, your site does not validate for XHTML 1.0. You might want to remove the little W3C XHTML image/button until it does. Your CSS does check out okay though. :)

I am the webmaster for my team, and I started with something very similar to your site, as far as orientation, layout, and coding. However, as the site progressed, it became quite a pain to use HTML for every page. I understand that it might seem like a big step, but if you have another year you should try to learn a little bit of PHP.

Benefits:
- don't need to type the header on every. Just use one line , as an example.
- Server-side compilation: The server takes care of putting together the files. By the time it's done, the user just gets a standard HTML file anyway.
- You can still use all your CSS and standard HTML tags. You wouldn't even need to change your CSS file if you keep everything else the same.

This all makes it much easier to make broader changes. Rather than going through every page of your site to add one menu link, you could just add it to one file that will update for all pages. There is also a lot more to do with PHP, since it is more of a programming language. This isn't meant to put down your work. The look is good, probably better than ours, but coming from another webmaster, it does make it much simpler in the long run, even if you just get down some of the very basic parts oh PHP.

the green team is using a web program called wordpress. its free and it makes adding new pages a snap. also the themes are customizable. if u need help pm me
