Lodging information, as well as a complete list of all area hotels, can be found on the BattleCry website at http://www.wpi.edu/News/Events/Battl...ttlefield.html

Both are about a 15 minute walk to campus though.

Thank you very much that's the answer I was looking for.

WPI offers dorm rooms for participants staying at Battlecry. I am not sure the exact details, but you should contact them about that. It's also much cheaper than a hotel, from what I hear.

I was not going to say anything but now I must.
1. Thank you to everyone that did give me the info that I was looking either here or by email.

2. Yes the link for hotels from the web site does list a bunch of hotels, motels, ect. The list does not tell you how far from the event they are which was what the info I was looking for. :p :)

The address of WPI is:

100 Institute Road, Worcester MA

The map I used (Google maps) pinpoints that almost exactly .25 miles from the Gymnasium.

Should be good enough to calculate mileage.

It appears that goal in the middle of the field for Battlecry. Sounds like a cool idea. I wonder how it will affect games.

(E.G., contacts made by balls thrown towards the Red home zone will tend to move the target to favor the Red alliance.) Its status at the end of the match determines which alliance, if either, gains the 10-point bonus. There will be real-time feedback throughout the match to indicate if and when the target is favoring a particular alliance. It may be engaged anytime during a match by either alliance. There will NOT be any vision system target above it. While it may be engaged by a human player or back-bot, ball shots from either of these would tend to move the target in favor of the opposing alliance.

So, is this like a tug-o-war style (more times you hit it is better) thing or a possession (last ball to hit it) thing?

its deff gonna be hard shooting toward yourself with no green light or anything.

it will be interesting to see what kind of affect this will realy have on game play.

If I had a car that would definitely be my plan. As of now I am still trying to figure out how to get up there Friday night. It will happen though!

This floating target thing seems to be quite interesting as well. Does it just keep moving in favor of one alliance? Is there a certain point where it becomes futile to try to change what side it's on? Or is that where GP comes into play and the human players start moving the target back to the center :D

The latter.

can you still see the green light from the other goal (can't open the WPI website, probably being flooded w/ FIRSTers, so I'm just going off of info here)?

I am confused. The backbot and the human players are on opposite sides of the target. The back-bot remains on the offensive side of the field, and the human players are on the defensive side of the field.

Which way does the target face?

Also, I too am concerned with being able to see the vision target at the opposite end of the field, especially from the center alliance station. Those targets are important to know when human-control has started and who won autonomous mode. I already sort of have to duck to see it from behind the line. I, too, can't get on WPI's site, so I guess we will just have to wait and see.
