Re: Championship Week, ARE YOU READY!!!?

Ready??
I am more than ready to leave but not at all prepared!
Whatever time it is that I am posting, minus 12:00 is how long I have been filling out scholarship applications. Today I have to take a 6 hour NOCTI test on 0 hours of sleep. Tuesday (the day I leave for ATL) I am taking a C++ programming test for a competition and being picked up early from that, luckily, it is south, so my team can get me on the way to Atlanta. All this is a mere facade compared to the two days I have been in school the past two weeks. I missed the other days for various reasons: senior class trip, programming contests and FBLA state contest. Make up tests anyone?!

Edit:
I forgot about having a job at a Theater which is now running a film festival that includes 14 films...on TWO SCREENS. And doing ever so needed robotics fundraisers. (Basket Bingo, thanks 103)
/edit

So yes. I am very very very eager and ready to leave, I am just working on the prepared part.

Sitting here in history class..."working on my Imperialism project"...took all of five minutes for me to click over to CD...I'm more than ready to leave for Atlanta, but I still have to suffer through another day and a half of school!! (Just two more periods today...then all day tomorrow...where's the time fairy when I need her??!?)

Re: Championship Week, ARE YOU READY!!!?

I cannot wait for two reasons:

1. I have a school newspaper article regarding how Team 66 does in Atlanta this week, and currently have no real material, so I need something to write about. Deam Kamen, I hope I can reach you for a quote.

2. I will be flying down there with the team this year, for the first time in two years. The bus trip last year was an energy draining trip in which I only got 1 hour of sleep. This year, I'll be well rested thank goodness.

3. OK, so I have three reasons. The game is insane, and what appears to be an international robotic dodgeball competition shall prove to be exciting. Good Luck to all and see you all there!

To Do List before 5 a.m. Wednesday:
1. Hand in Research Paper- Done
2. Persuasive Speech- Tomorrow @ 8am
3. Work 6 Hours- EASY...
4. Put together briefs on other teams and assemble scouting sheets- Tuesday night.
5. Get Some sleep-NOT EASY!

My brain is fried from school, doped up due to heavy allergy medications and hyped from caffeine adrenaline for the bus trip.

I am always ready.

To do list before 8 a.m. Wednesday
1) Study for massive, awful, AP/ICON Chem test written by the devil herself.
2) Read story for English and write journal. (Thank god I'm going to be an engineering major next year)
3) Send email to team asking them if they have any final suggestions for scouting sheets.
4) Ask coach about scouting info.
5) Rewrite entire scouting spreadsheet because of accidental RAM glitch on Pocket PC (luckily I have the sheet on another computer, but it can't connect to my Pocket PC)
6) Figure out how to connect computer to pocket PC.
7) Pack.
8) Go out to we-don't-have-school-tomorrow dinner.

God, I can't wait. Atlanta is going to rock! :)

Re: Championship Week, ARE YOU READY!!!?

Ladies and Gentlemen, the moment of truth is nearly upon us...

Every year hundreds of teams decend upon the 6 fields of Championship FIRST. It is a spectacle which is rivaled only by the greatest of sporting events. There is drama, excitement, grit, determination, glory, dissapointment, elation, and celebration. Each year carries with it a captivating story. This year will be no different...

Who will walk away from Einstien reigning supreme? Will it be the four time champion, in search of the magic number 5...or will it be somewhere out of the unexpected? Going into the event all eyes are on a bunch of Raiders. Team 25 goes into the event as a favorite comming out of the Newton divison...the question arises...will a certain "Stang" or "Poof" have something to say about it...or will they join the empire and make an unstoppable force? Or how about a robot named MORT, who seems to be quietly positioning themselves for a major run at the title. One would have to think whoever comes out of the Newton Division, has the upper hand....

Or do they?

One would think that a certain Pink sharpshooter might be able to turn a few heads over in Archimedes. Could they give something Newtonian a run for their money?

Or maybe a long time veteran X-Cat will finally surge its way among the top of the class, or how about a certain Goats Heard, as Gompei looks to make a run out of Galileo. As always, there is always a Technokat or a Gael Force, looking to return to a glory once held...

Or maybe it will be a Rocketeer?

Why not look up?

Up, as in north. For years the country of Canada has been yelling and screaming for the heads of the FIRST world to look its way. Now the world has no choice, for what comes out of Canada is a three headed monster that may not be able to be stopped. Could it be that this is the year that the Maple Leaf gets raised with the golden FIRST trophy?

Or will it be the year that a Bobcat, a Buzz, or Rhode Warrior brings the New England region back into the fold? The Bobcats have two regional victories under their belt, and have been slaying offensive monsters all year long, might they have the answer for the offensive juggernauts found out of the other three divisions?

Or will this be the first year that a rookie team does the unimaginable? Evidence would point in that direction with the influx of amazing young blood among the FIRST ranks. 8, count them, EIGHT regional victories went to rookie teams this year. Can you say overdue?

Or maybe it will be another one of the 344 teams who will grace the carpet and ramps...aiming high.

Every year has a story...

Will this year be yours?

Good luck to everyone!
