Golden Ball
Like one of the founders of google said the robots should be free! So when exactly is the relay across america guna happen holding the golden ball.
yeah probably a joke but would be cool if it happened |
Re: Golden Ball
Anyone have a clip a the episode of Dexters Laboratory. The one where he sets all his robots free?
They run out into the street and start yelling "FREE! we're FREE!" then a semi runs them all over? |
Re: Golden Ball
it would be sooo cool if google puts a little advertisement on their home website or gmail, like they did for the davinci code quest thingy. like, click here to track the golden ball!!!
I think the golden ball should start at google headquarters and end at manchester at the FIRST kick-off. that would definitely be cool. do u think we should have a slogan/logo/button contest for this feat? :D |

In the middle of january!!!... Start putting those snow tracks on guys lol. |
Re: Golden Ball
I think it would be cool if the ball passed through the 32 north american regional event sites during its journey, but of course that would make the journey much much longer.
|
Re: Golden Ball
For those who weren't in Atlanta (or who couldn't watch the webcast) ... what is this "golden ball" you speak of? :)

Re: Golden Ball
yeah true... january would be a bad time to drive robots in new hampshire... lol.
|
Re: Golden Ball
What about letting the 33 Regionals (2006) Chairmans Award winners, drive their robot around with a "Golden Poof Ball" around Downtown Atlanta on the Wednesday before Nationals, with one bot shooting the ball into the other, so it doesn't touch human hands, Or better yet, have it on thursday, and friday morning, it arrives on 111's bot (Nats, Chairman Winner) and the ball is shot to Woodie Flowers douring the opening ceromonies.
Have six golden balls travel around douring the Regional Weeks for the previous chairman winners. Hang on thats a bad idea, What about Isreal????? O well, what do you guys think |

Re: Golden Ball
Knowing Sergey Brin, this will happen in some way, shape or form. it may be all digital (ie, each day they have a team featured on the google home page, and you can track them across the world), but I'm willing to bet it will happen. Our team (as the Mountain View team) is going to try and work with Google to make it a reality.

Re: Golden Ball
I'm pretty sure the whole "golden ball" thing was a metaphor...you know for spreading the word of FIRST (the golden ball) to other people...although I could just be crazy
|

Maybe it could be a way for teams to meet each other during off season or something. |
Re: Golden Ball
hmmm i see a need for the google logo to be modified for FIRST on the day of Kickoff and during Finals...or even better, from kickoff to finals
|
Re: Golden Ball
Im pretty sure this was just something to get our minds thinking of how to get people to get to first.. but if we did do it again, I think we should have it as an "Olympic Event" and start at Google HQ, and have every team carry a leg if they wanted to to atlanta and than we would have a HUGE party to thank EXIDE for making heavy duty batteries just for us to get soo far without changing the battery every few hundred feet :) :$ lol...

look near the end of this video, you'll see what we're talking about. http://soap.circuitrunners.com/2006/..._intro_pt3.wmv |
Re: Golden Ball
What if the robot made it up to the Olympic torch and shot it inside?
Perhaps we should construct our own torch (or symbolic equivalent) instead. |
Re: Golden Ball
lol..how bout we get a sweet Loader to shoot it into the torch and it goes through a hoop of lighter fluid..and than trhoguh a ring of fire...landing in a FIRSTOlympic Torch and it flares like CRAZY!!!!!! :) It would be safe (Saftey first; I'll bring goggles?)

Re: Golden Ball
A few months from now I'll be walking to school and then I'll suddenly be attack by a rogue robot trying to feed me a golden ball or something wont I?
|
Re: Golden Ball
And you will thank yourself for scouting other teams and finding how to human load different bots. LOL. Because your scouting will come into effect by having to load the ball :)
|
Re: Golden Ball
Scouting was tough this year >.< Meh not really its easy for me ^_^
|
Re: Golden Ball
Lol...All of the people that want to load the golden ball should have a huge catagory dedicated to GOLDEN BALL and the reps from each team that load would have to post pictures, post detalied instructions on how to put balls into their robot and how they would come out :) Becasue if a robot can just drop a bll on ground another robot can feed it up and shoot it into the net of another robot and etc etc etc. :)
That would be "Kewl" -Pavan |
Re: Golden Ball
I believe that the World Champions and the C.A and E.I awards winner hand off the ball before kickoff and the C.A robot shoots a target to drop the curtains for next year's game.
|
Re: Golden Ball
Although the Chairman's Award winner robot shooting stuff is a cool idea, how would the team feel if they had to pay for their robot to be shipped wherever this event is happening?
Would FIRST pay for it? Then that'd be awesome! |

Re: Golden Ball
Or along with the cermonial ball each team would have like a 1 foot bar on their robot which has a 25 sq foot (5X5) of lexasn to keep their bot not wet and saran wrap around the Control systems???
PS Would the bots be teathered? or what? Lol Pavan |
Re: Golden Ball
What would be cool would be if the golden ball(s) arrived at the destination(s) and then opened like a lotus flower to reveal a clue(s)
for the next year's game - or the next big goal for FIRST. |
Re: Golden Ball
what if next years game is all about changing colrors, and a golden ball....
Those might have just been set up as clues.... Do you think they hav next years game all figured out. |
